I have some ornamental trees that line my property. My as*hole neighbor plans on sueing me if i don't take them down. Does he have any right to sue. The trees are mine and are on my property. They put shade on his property for a part of the day, other than that, they do nothing to harm his property.

I have always wondered why people have their disputes settled on one of those court televison programs and tell all of their personal business. Do these people get substantially compensated for their participation? If I was getting sued I certainly would not want the whole world to know it.

Well.. I posted a quesiton on this last night and got some good answers. Well I went in and requested the deferment and it was denied. The judge said that the trial is set to be over Wednesday and it WILL BE he said... so it won't interfere with my vacation they said. But I'm jsut hoping now that maybe it will get cancelled or settled or something and I won't have to go at all.

This question is for Whitey if he gets it.. or anyone who might know the answer... How do you find out or know how far back you will be in the line? Is it based on when you get there and sign in?? or what?? How do they determine it?

I'm praying so hard, I don't have to do it.. and if I do.. would the judge know for a fact that it wouldn't last longer than that?? is it possible??

Thanks for any help!!

My husband and i are both in the military. We work at the same dining facility. A civilian co-worker one day commented on how about how fine my husband was. My husband came and told me.
I went over to the person, and stated to her (because i wasnt sure if she knew we were married), "Do you know that Sgt. Noone and I are married?" She laughed and said no. Another co-worker who was standing there said, "We knew." Everyone laughed about it. That was Friday. On Monday, she went to the Mgr. and told him that i grabbed her up (in a threatning manner), and told her that Sgt. Noone and I were married. This is a lie, I did not put my hands on her. Is that slander? Can I sue? I will be recieving a negative counseling statement, which can result in UCMJ action.
Any anwers are appreciated.

My director is assuming I am going to the Annual General Meeting tonight to take minutes, I don't want to but I didn;t get the chance to explain. She said I would be sitting next to a lady who takes short hand and another lady who can help me with my minutes, but i don't want to go. I enjoy working in my office and don't wish to take minutes at meetings, I was never told to do so when I started my job at the beginning. What do I do?

I am looking for intelligent and substantive arguments from both sides. Pro-life, pro-choice. No fourth-grade insults, attacks on opponents, or one-liners. This is not a poll, it is a discussion.

I will rate the best response, and mention which answer I think is the best counter-argument.

my boss sacked me. I asked for my money. He refused. He now says ok to the money, but he wants to counter claim for breach of contract. the contract, (non existent in this term of employment) says I must sign claim forms for him to receive funding from DWP. At the time of my dismissal, he informed me that I was not funded by DWP any longer. can he insist on my signing the forms? I can't prove that he said I was no longer funded by DWP, he is also lying about other matters. Please help. cannot get Legal Aid for employment law, and other solicitors appear reluctant to fight one of their own.
