I have filed in small claims court, against a corporation for an outstanding, unpaid invoice, for work done. Their attorney filed to have it changed to civil court, then did not show up for any of the court dates. The judge never heard the case, and signed a default judgement against them.

The corporation did end up paying the cost of the invoice without the late fees, penalties, or costs.... which were included in the default judgement. I am still interested in recovering those too. It has now been a month since the default judgement was signed.

When I filed against the corporation, I had to put the President of the corporations name. He was the person that represents their corporation.

I know someone, in Michigan, that lost a small claims case, and they had their drivers liscense suspended until the debt was paid.

Can this be done to the officer of a corporation, that's name was on the lawsuit? And if so, how would I go about doing it?

This image of animal activists is the one I see portrayed in popular culture a lot. Usually the activist would inconspicuosly walk into a mall, ask where the furs are, and then proceed to yell out "Fur is murder!" while branding the words onto the coat/wrap/etc. with spray paint.

But I seriously cannot see activists in real life doing this because of the flawed logic (or so it seems to me). Wouldn't the act just make the retailer ask for more fur from their suppliers, therefore increasing the killing of animals? They would be hurting their own cause, and I imagine that people so passionate about their cause would be more careful about endeavouring into something of that nature.

my friends mom died last week and she didn't have any life insurance and left them with an 8000 dollar funeral bill.She left a mobile home and 3 acres land worth about that.Can the propery be sold immediately to pay the bill or is their a waiting period.

He wrote a horrible letter to his college telling tales of torture and abuse. Stated his father sexually abused one of the girls and that we both abused him, he sent this letter to the school hoping to get a dependency waiver so that he can get his schooling paid for. He was adopted and all we have ever tried to do was help him but he has hit us broken his fathers nose and threatened to kick my butt many times. He does not live with us anymore and he just keeps telling people that we are abusers both phyical and sexual abusers. Not true and he has no proof. We do however have proof to show that he is lying. Is there anything we can do to stop him from spreading these lies. Please help I am in New York...

Upon reviewing my divorce case file in the courthouse I noticed the words "Dummy" File wrote on the case file folder. When I asked about this the clerk informed me that my orginal case file was lost, stolen or destroyed. So the other parties attorney had submitted supposed duplicate files to make up another file. This was done without my knowledge and has never been acknowledged in front of a judge or anywhere in the case file folder. Documents that I had made copies of before its mysterious loss do not match the neww ones that were marked orginals. Many other problems related to this same case. Can anyone help me?

My 5 yr old daughter attends a licensed in home daycare. About a week ago she fell off a swing and broke her arm. Now, the daycare provider says she is not financially responsible and refuses to give me her insurance information. She says because my daughter was jumping off the swing, but the swing is too high for any of the kids there, it comes up to my 5 yr olds chest and she's one of the older kids there. Also, my daughter says no adults were outside with the kids...what do I do?

Two online pharmacies keep calling my home and won't stop. My niece bought her online prescriptions from them but she hasn't lived with me for a year and hasn't done business with them for two years. I've asked them repeatedly to take my number off their lists but they just hang up on me. I have caller ID. How can I get them to stop calling me? It's been going on for over a year now. Thanks.

I have been sued by my previous landlord. She is taking me to small claims court for "damages". However, in the paperwork, she does NOT list what "damages" she is suing me for....

When I moved into the house, she waived any deposits if I agreed to clean the house for move in. This was fine. My mother lived upstairs, and I was eager to live there.

So there was no deposit to get back, and I honestly did NOT cause any damages. The house is in horrific condition. On more than one occasion, I had things break on me (pipes, furnace, hot water heater, and the list goes on) in which she basically ignored me when I requested a fix. I finally would have to hire my own outside vendor to come do repairs and deduct from my rent. I had reached the last straw when our hot water heater went out (in JANUARY) and she did not have it fixed.

How am I supposed to prepare my defense if I dont know what I am defending myself against. Doesnt she have to list what she is claiming I damaged??
