What types of guns can you have? Does it vary between the states?

It all depends on what state you live in and what type of gun permit you have. The states range from:
Vermont--which doesn't even issue such a thing as a "gun permit" because you don't need one to buy a gun or carry one openly or concealed.
to:
Illinios--which requires you to have a permit to own ANY type of gun, and doesn't allow you to get a permit to carry it in public openly or concealed.
The other states fall somewhere in between. Name your state, and I can help you more..

It depends on the state. There are differing types of permits. TX has concealed only permits, some states if you have the concealed permit technically you can both carry open and concealed.
Most of the red states don't make you get a gun permit just to own a firearm, but if you want to carry it you need the permit.

Each state differs. In many the gun permit allows you to buy and own it. You must obtain a concealed weapon permit to carry it.

There's a difference between states.. . generally, there are "carry" permits, "owner" permits, and "dealer" permits. In some states, even long guns have to be registered.

In South Carolina a person can get a concealed weapons permit (and yes I have one). I own several firearms and carry a Colt 45 ACP

Depens on the permit. You usually only need a permit to carry a concealed weapon!

It really depends on where you live. If you live in California or in alot of other big cities i would imagine it legal to carry. But if you are hunting you have to store you ammo and gun seperatly.
