My teachers said fireworks are illegal, but one night I saw my neighbors shooting fireworks in the sky. What should I do?

They ARE really kids messing about in the streets. I'm afraid they can get hurt or someone else might get hurt.

you are obviously concerned about right and wrong, but you should also consider why things are legal or not.
the fact is fireworks can be dangerous if they are not handled properly.
are you neighbors actually doing anything that puts you or someone else in danger? are they drunk or goofing off while they use these?
if so, then you should contact your neighbors first and ask them to stop, if you feel afraid to do so then anonymously call the police and make a complaint.
if they are hurting no one and are behaving responsibly then i see no reason why the authorities should be called in.

The sale and use of fireworks is governed by municipal and state/provincial laws. Where I live, somebody has to be eighteen years of age or more to purchase them. About using them, I am not sure if that is regulated. However, if ANYBODY is using fireworks in an unsafe manner, they should be reported to the police before anybody gets hurt.

That totally depends on what state your in. I live in Indiana and happen to work in the fireworks industry. Indiana has a law that your able to fire off fireworks on your own property or the property of somebody who's given you the permission to shoot them off till 11pm every night, and midnight on national holidays.
Best way to find out what the laws are for your area is to contact a local fire chief of your county, they will generally give you a website .gov that gives such laws.
Other then that, it sounds like a basic ethics question, do you report somebody breaking the law when you see it happening, no matter how minor it may seem?

Not all fireworks are illegal in all areas.
If they are disturbing you, (ie: you can't sleep because of them), by all means file a complaint. Otherwise, don't bother. If they are flying up in the sky, then the police can see them as well and will take care of it when they have the time.

Don't do anything. It is illegal to sale fireworks in some cities. And even illegal to shoot them off within the city limits. Some cities let you and some don't. Your neighbors may not even know it's illegal in your area. If they ain't burning anything down I wouldn't worry.

First you should see if they have the right by the police to do so.and then maybe you should tell the police you saw some fireworks shooting in ur neighborhood. but otherwise you shouldn't be so worried about it

Please don't assume that your neighbor did anything wrong just because it's "illegal" to shoot off fireworks. I'd check with your City to see if they issue permits allowinig occassional shooting of fireworks for special occassions prior to making any acusations.

Don't worry about it. The cops have worse things to worry about. You gotta choose your battles and this one ain't worth it.
BTW In some states, fireworks are legal year round.
