Well.. I posted a quesiton on this last night and got some good answers. Well I went in and requested the deferment and it was denied. The judge said that the trial is set to be over Wednesday and it WILL BE he said... so it won't interfere with my vacation they said. But I'm jsut hoping now that maybe it will get cancelled or settled or something and I won't have to go at all.

This question is for Whitey if he gets it.. or anyone who might know the answer... How do you find out or know how far back you will be in the line? Is it based on when you get there and sign in?? or what?? How do they determine it?

I'm praying so hard, I don't have to do it.. and if I do.. would the judge know for a fact that it wouldn't last longer than that?? is it possible??

Thanks for any help!!

How am I being selfish? I'm not going to lie about anything. I plan my vacation for a year and why would I want to miss it? I don't want to have to serve and I was wondering how true it was if the judge says it will be over.. how accurate that will be.. can they say that for sure.

The list is random and you cannot find out when you will be called for the questioning; they just keep calling the prospective jurors to ask them questions until they find 12 that they think will be qualified.

If you do become one of those, then when they ask you questions, be a lil bias or ask them to clarify it because you dont understand....That way, the attorneys will send you home. Very easy...hehehe....

by the way dont mention that you have a planned vacation coming up...they will probrably give you a hard time knowing you are just trying to get away from it.

When I was called for jury duty and they were doing the selection they eliminated me when I said I was a journalism student. Another person said they cannot make decisions and they eliminated her. Both sides, the defendant and the plaintiff get to eliminate so many members of the jury and that determines who will be on the trial jury. If you make it clear that you might go one way or another before even hearing the details of the trial one of the sides will eliminate you.

It all depends on what kind of case it is. If there is any chance you have seen it on the news, say you've followed eveyrthing about it! And yes you've formed opinions. The journalism student suggestion was really good, too. You should use that!
