No. Iraq was not behind 9/11. That was already decided by us Americans

If Bush is so against terrorism and injustice why doesn't he go to Sri Lanka and wipe out the terrorists there? Is it because Sri Lanka has no oil? Please save me the "oh, we went to Iraq to save the poor Iraqui people" speech. It's ignorant.

That is an excellent question that I have been asking since this war started; but, back then not so many ppl were listening.. Most were still caught up in the lie that Iraq was behind 911. Thank GOD that lie was proven false with the 911 Commission Report.

Anyways, it is disgusting and I get very upset over it sometimes because I feel like a murderer... my tax dollars are paying for their slaughter and nobody seems to care.

Nobody batted an eye or paid any attention when there was a woman and small child found in the rubble when Zar.. was assassinate. That's only one example of all the children who have been slaughtered by our military.

I just don't understand the degree of lack of humanity we have come to as a nation.

Ummm... not to defend President Bush (a fate worse than death in my humble opinion), but let's not forget that Saddam Hussein was not denying he had weapons of mass destruction. He was trying to be a big dog in a small yard and got called on a bluff. Saddam's mighty army of the middle east rolled over pretty darn fast.

However, let's not oversimplify matters. War is terrible. It shouldn't be entered into lightly. When a soldier surrenders, he shouldn't expect to be put up in the Hilton and have every whim catered to. He's alive because his captor allowed it; his life was forfeit when he held up his hands. Yes, you can point at the Geneva Convention, but how many people captured by the insurgents have said that they received every right under the Geneva Convention? In fact, I dare you to tell the parents of those two soldiers just recently killed after being tortured that the insurgents are just misunderstood.

The Iraqis lost the war. The Americans and other coalition forces will leave once peace and order is established -- because without fighting, the coalition public won't want their boys and girls over there any longer than is necessary. If those Iraqis unhappy with the occupation of their country would just shut up, sit on their hands, and put a smile on, we'd probably be out of there right away.

As for the hurting of civilians.... why do news reports state that these hooligans are using women, children, and old men as shields? I kinda think civilians will get hurt if that's how the terrorists are using them and that's how the "civilians" are allowing themselves to be used.

"Insurgents" are just terrorists with a warm and fuzzy name. They're just trying to terrorize those who are trying to rebuild and establish a better Iraq.

Yes, the war is terrible. The reasons for it are now under 20/20 hindsight. Do Iraqis really want Saddam Hussein back? Well, maybe the Sunnis do.....

Not just oil, honey.. don't you remember what they did to our country on Sep 11th...
There may be oil there in Iraq... but our real purpose is more than just oil....
What our soldiers do to prisoners is nothing compared to what other people do to our soldiers when they are prisoners.
My Husband was gone fighting that war for 18 months!!!
Be glad you are alive... and you have soldiers to keep from living a life like those in Iraq..
I am a christian... I am proud to an American and a soldiers wife..
and I am proud to kick some Iraqi Butt... God has a bigger purpose and that's why this war is happening... Things do
happen for reason.... and it didn't start over OIL

It is not our policy to kill civillians or torture them. Whoever does it is a criminal. Bush didn't send us to torture or kill innocent people. When are you people going to stop blaming Bush for everything? You still think this is about oil? Are you people really that dumb?
There's a big difference between making someone stand on a chair with a bucket over their head and taking a drill to someone's kids until their deaths, cutting their tongue out before killing their father just for making a joke about their Mom. Yes, Saddam did this. I lived about 30 yards from two torture chambers while I was there. It still stunk of death.
Do you people want the terrorist organizations to grow in peace to come back and cut off more heads and blow up more American people?
We don't turn our backs, we arrest them and put them in jail after due process, unlike what those poor kids who got tortured and killed by the insurgants and Saddam's former regime.

While there may not of been the weapons of mass destruction, what about the genocide, the daily bombings, the civil unrest that causes danger to the people of Iraq, do we not owe it to those less fortunate to do what we can to provide them with a better life? I in no way mean to try and change their beliefs Just to provide a safer environment for them

Michelle, there are things we will never understand about being in battle. Alot of these guys are suffering from post traumatic syndrome, and are not being treated, they are sent right back into full on battle. I am not saying that okays it, but I think you need to look to the higher ups for the solution. And don' t forget what they just did to 2 of our young guys. It's the ugliest part of war. My dad was in WWII and there are things he will not discuss to this day. With global TV and news reports we hear about this stuff. Back then, there were few reporters covering the war, and it was kept quiet. But you are right, it is disgusting.

Listen to the UN?!?!? The UN is the most corrupt organization in the world. Ever here of the oil for food program?!?! Why would any US president listen to or much less ask the UN what they thought. We shouldn't even be in the UN which is incapable of enforcing any sanctions they declare. Bah!!

Yes, we went to war in Iraq over oil. King George had the power of the US military and manfuactured an excuse to use it. There is an old saying and I can't tell you who originated it but it goes like this..."aboslute power corrupts absolutely".

A lot of people are equally bothered by both. War is hell, and an unjust war is doubly so. Soldiers on both sides are experiencing a lot of misery, and it's the result of the governments (both past and present) of their countries.
