Do you think that it should be required by law that anyone over 65 take a driving test to make sure they are still fully capable of handling the responsibility of driving? How many of you have almost gotten of have gotten into an accident with an elderly person over the age of 65?

I'd say no, leave them alone. Alot of senior citizens are just trying to hang on to some independence. And alot of times, it's imperative for them to be able to get around to doctor's appointments and to do their own food shopping and things like that. We're never going to be able to remove all unsafe drivers from the road. We all know that young, road-rage filled, inexperienced, drivers cause even more accidents than seniors do. Should we remove all them as well by making a law saying you have to be 25 years old before you can drive? Of course not. That would be ridiculous. Leave the seniors alone. If we looked into each and every car on the road, probably most of us shouldn't be driving for one reason or another. But hey. We live in a free society (supposedly). We need to have tolerance for one another, not more laws.

Not necessarily. It is a fact that elderly drivers are much safer and less accident-prone than young drivers. So I would see it as unfair to penalise people for their age.
Having said that, there should be a fresh test for anyone who caused an accident or was stopped for dangerous driving, regardless of age. I would also agree to a regular test of eyesight and general conditions for people over 70, maybe in intervals of five years.

Yes defiantly... as you age your motor skills slow down, you may still be there mentally but physically your health starts to decline...

I was sitting at the park one day... a woman pulled up behind this car stopped at a light.. the light changed from green to red.. she beeped the horn, the light changed from green to red again... she beeped the horn. Then after she realized that there was NO ONE in that car it was parked.... she backed up and went around.

I feel as a safety to all people, pedestrians and other drivers alike... it needs to be imposed and required that once you hit a certain age or have certain disabilities you have to take a drivers test EVERY year!

You bet. I'm still seeing doctors for treatments after an accident 2 months ago. An elderly couple ran a red light and struck the left side of my car. It was a total lost. Thanks for the seat belt, I would be death by now without it.
