Where can I find help to pay my my medical bill? I have had an accident, needed orthopedic surgury, and now I must pay.
I know that I am lucky to even get treatment (and very good treatment by the way)without to paying cash or having insurance, ect.
But the bill is extremely high. I think they must inflate the bill of people such as myself to offset the "losses" incured by treating medcaid/medicare (insured) patients...if you know anything about this topic, then will understand that.

I am not being cheap.I honesty dont have the money.
I had no choice in the matter.
If anyone knows of Government programs or agencies that can help please respond. Either to help me pay it , or to investigate the outrageously high costs.
Thank you.

In many states, they will take your state income tax refunds and apply it towards your bill. You can also start paying a small amount, like $10 a month and that will keep them from calling you about it.

The reason the costs are so high is because the hospital must pay for all the non-payers. These accounts can run into the billions at a single hospital each year. Insurances then add to the amount non-insureds must pay because they "contract" an amount for services. Even if billed higher the patient then only pays the contract amount and the rest is written off.

Contact the hospital, most have information on government programs that can help pay. Most will also be willing to write huge portions of the bill if you qualify for any of those programs. Normally if you work with them they will work with you to get the bill paid off. Some religious hospitals even have their own charity programs to help pay off the bill. Bottom line contact the hospital and they will help you out. There's no reason for them not to since the more the help you the more they'll actually get paid and not have to toss into bad debt.

Many hospitals have programs in place to help people who do not have medical insurance pay for their medical expenses. Check with the hospital you were taken to. You might have to provide a significant amount of information and paperwork, but it is worth it in the end. If there is no program like this at the hospital you were treated at, then you should consider your legal options, depending on whether or not the accident was your fault.

I would apply for charity at the provider , show them your expenses, you 'll need to show your income as well. Your prescriptions, doctor visits, xrays, lab tests.
