What I mean is if someone asks you to describe your political beliefs in one word, are you more likely to say you are a Republican/Democrat or would you say conservative/moderate/liberal?

It’s like the Republican party has lost their “war on reason” and are awaiting their sentencing in 2008. Hence many top Republicans are predicting an end of the GOP in the near future.

My fiance works at a movie rental / retail store. Often she works late (up to midnight) and she works alone. Is that legal in California? Don't there have to be at least 2 people working at all times for safety reasons, etc.?
Thanks!

Why do we still have the electoral college? i noticed in the back of my history book that there are several elections where the presdent who won did not win the popular vote...

i know when america was a baby, the founders didn't have faith in some of the uneducated people, so they founded the elcetoral college, but now i think we all are smart enough and educated enough to make our own choices.

do our votes even count for anything? i think i'm missing something here, if someone could fill me in!

i was just strolling through yahoo answers when i noticed how the posters here are just ripping each others throats for being (democrat/republican). its getting nasty here.
since i only came of age around 9/11 i was wondering, for those who have been around for more than my measly 22 years, have you ever seen the U.S. so divided when it comes to politics, or was it worst in your opinions during other eras such as watergate or reagan, or w/e.

I make about $143,000.00 a year and already feel like I pay too much in taxes to see the government continue to waste it constantly. Which Dem could I consider voting for that would not raise taxes for me based on my individual situation.?

Recently, my friend's maid get caught shoplifting in a supermarket. I was asked if I could act as a guarantor of this maid in order to bail her out. This friend of mine said she will bear the cost of S$6,000 to bail her maid out. What she needs me to do is to sign and act as a guarantor of her maid since I'm a Singaporean. Both my friend and her maid are foreigners (Indian nationalities). They are holding employment passes. Do you think it's risky to do so? I wanted to help but yet afraid of the the consequences in the near future. As they are both foreigners, they will return to their own country one day after their employment contract ended in Singapore. I just wondering whether I should help?

Do you think that was to keep it from passing? They seemed to add some really radical stuff towards the end. Some of it was downright frightening truthfully. Like did you know there was a clause to lock up a Z visa holder indefinitely without any cause? Yep that was in there. So seriously why would something like that be added if they really wanted it to pass?

I don't think they DO want these people legal. There's more money to be made by keeping them illegal. Wages stay down and business's profit. And the public blames the illegals. How nice for the big wigs huh? Keep us poor and a scapegoat to take the blame.

What do you think? Sound plausible?

I would make immigration policies less strict, enforce equally for everyone by paying everyone equally and giving them the same benifits to free education and health care for all, those who don't work will be imprisioned, and drop out of the oil war in Iraq, provide stricter punishments for offenders, but eliminate the death penatly because that's immoral, have the government spy on you to prevent further crimes. Do you think I would make a good president?

Instinctively I'd say yes, but I'm just checking. I wouldn't think of jet fighters as being made to combat helicopters, but instead other jets.... so hence my doubt.

This does not provide a linear result. It shows that your views may not fit neatly within a certain party's platform. It demonstrates that politics are a lot deeper than what we have been conditioned to believe, with our two party system.

And if you are going to use this as an opportunity to bash someone or any political party, save it. Go wast your time on another question. Please. You are missing the point and probably do not have the capacity to understand.
