Recently, my friend's maid get caught shoplifting in a supermarket. I was asked if I could act as a guarantor of this maid in order to bail her out. This friend of mine said she will bear the cost of S$6,000 to bail her maid out. What she needs me to do is to sign and act as a guarantor of her maid since I'm a Singaporean. Both my friend and her maid are foreigners (Indian nationalities). They are holding employment passes. Do you think it's risky to do so? I wanted to help but yet afraid of the the consequences in the near future. As they are both foreigners, they will return to their own country one day after their employment contract ended in Singapore. I just wondering whether I should help?

Once you signed as a bailor, you will have to make sure that the maid will attend court on the court date. If the maid fail to attend court on the court date, beside the bail money can be conficated, you will also need to "show cause", and explain why the bail money shouldn't be conficated.
Bear in mind, in most cases, the bailor just need to show that he/she had the money (S$6000), and don't have to use the money to pay for the bail. It's only when the maid failed to attend court, and supposed if your friend also not around or if she refused to take responsible, then you will have to face the "show cause" on conficating the bail of $6000.

What Tan D said is correct. I dun advice you to act as the guarantor to bail a foreigner coz if both of them run away, you are going to be in trouble

nicely, what number circumstances did we ought to circulate to their nicely for water. In different words, we've borrowed money (because of the fact of our "tax cuts" & that the conflict "did no longer pay for itself"- Republicans Ideology) from those countries and once you owe ppl money--you're greater "INDEBTED" than only "repaying" lower back the own loan.
