Do you think that was to keep it from passing? They seemed to add some really radical stuff towards the end. Some of it was downright frightening truthfully. Like did you know there was a clause to lock up a Z visa holder indefinitely without any cause? Yep that was in there. So seriously why would something like that be added if they really wanted it to pass?

I don't think they DO want these people legal. There's more money to be made by keeping them illegal. Wages stay down and business's profit. And the public blames the illegals. How nice for the big wigs huh? Keep us poor and a scapegoat to take the blame.

What do you think? Sound plausible?

Because that's the way politics work.

Some politician has an idea - in this case an abortion allowing amnesty for millions of lawbreakers AND their families get first shot at family reunification - when illegals should NEVER be allowed to become citizens based on their total lack of respect.

Then some other politicians place amendments on the bill. Many of these are downright dangerous as well as just plain stupid. In this bill there were several about known gang members being allowed to stay as long as they say they are sorry and not in a gang anymore.

Because our politicians do not want to represent us I think the fine voters of this country need to be sure they will be looking for a job come election time!

TO answer AntiJedi, our government maybe losing money, but some of our polticians would profit. Our politicians do not get a percentage of the countries income. They get a flat salary. That's why Pork is so dangerous. THey can pass a law giving their friends alot of money, and latter on profit from it. Agbusiness can send in fat contributions to thank the politicians for keeping their expenses down.

As to the main wuestion, it's plausible, but I think the Democrats made it so it could fail, to make the Republican look insensitive. As for the part that the Z visa can be place in jail, it's seem a bit extreme, but remember, all of those who got it, already broke our law. I think we need a little leeway for examining illegal immigrants for terrorist ties atleast. What they put in, would be a bit extreme in my books.

Since Jan 2007 when Nancy Pelosi became the Speaker of the House, EVERYTHING passed (which, thank God, is very little) is a bunch of junk.
They ALL want tho get their bit of the action and so they all jump in. Like the old saying "Too many cooks spoil the broth", they ruin everything.
Part of the JOB of the Speaker is to Chair the Board and control such garbage. Nancy can't do the job.

Its an old political trick, If you do not want legislation to pass you add "riders" to the bill that will assure others will not vote in favor of the bill either, the more "riders" a bill has the less chance it has of passing. Republicans do not want this bill to pass during their watch, They will pass it once the president is a Democrat.

it seems to me like they just don't take the time to read the bills and all the details written in one. maybe they just want to know just how ridicules of a bill they can get past the constituents. with the dream act i was horrified to realize that my senator did not know that there was no background check required. the response said that there was one and i had to go back to the bill to reread it as i thought maybe i got it wrong. nope she was wrong. so then my next thought was did she not know, did she think she knew or did she think i didn't know, wouldn't look. i found the whole thing pretty scary and wondered just what is she getting paid to do?

Hm. Didn't think of that at the time, although there was certainly stuff I never could possibly have supported. I did come to that conclusion on the 'Dream Act' though, so I'll think back to the other bill as well. At the time I just figured it was dinosaurs not realizing how fast their debates and bill changes would become known to those tracking the bill. And trying to get away with murder. And legalizing murderers.... : )

sounds about right. i think if we United States Americans have to put up with illegals we should be payed what the law calls for, we should demand they take our pay raises up and let them do what they want with illegals, if illegals want rights then they should come here legally.

That bill was an abomination. There were so many things wrong with it. Don't forget a lot of Pro's didn't like it either. I serisously doubt it would have passed.

We want to stop more people from coming in before we figure out what to do with the ones here.
It is like a huge gas leek. We need to seal it off before we can even begin to deal with it.

They ALL have junk in them, unfortunately.

Our House and Senate have become a Circus - a Circus exclusively filled with clowns.
