well my fiance just joined the national guard and i am scared to death that they'll deploy him to iraq.. well the recruiter told him that they wont send him as long as he is in college and in the universities ROTC.. is that true?? cause in my opinion that sounds like a load of dirt.. and they say that they wont be able to give our son benefits because me and my fiance arent married yet.. are they ripping us off? i know that i cant get the benefits yet but our son??? i dont know what to think.. i dont want him to be in the national guard especially during war time.. he doesnt go to training till next march.. i want him to get out of it before that time but i know that hell get discharged and that will be bad on his record.. i know he never should have signed up but what will happen to him if he just straight out tells the recruiter "nevermind i dont want to do this"?

I'm 18. I got accepted to columbia university in (NYC) but My father wont let me go.what can I do?
we live in atlanta georgia. and he does not want me to go to columbia university because he thinks that hes not goig to be in NYC and he is not gonna let me leave alone. what can I do ? I want to kill myself. I was trying so hard all my highschool years to ge t accepted there and now this idiot .......... ! does he have a right to do that ? even if he does do you think it is correct ?/ should I call police if he wont let me to leave?

any ideas ?

A few years ago, I had done slight research on cable descramblers, as I always see them for sale in various magazines, stores, internet & such. But many places say that they are not legal (of course those places being the cable companies). Before we even get into it-- NO, I dont own one!

My question is: how can they be legal to advertise for sale & even in stores if they are illegal to use? Either its legal or its not! Which is it? I have called FCC to question it & they say it is perfectly legal to own but in order to use it, you must get permission from the cable company. I dont know about you, but that sounds pretty stupid to me. I am no legal mind or anything but, does that make any sense? They are saying that its ok to steal cable, as long as you get permission to do it.

Is that just the FCCs way of just not getting involved?

that advancing technology and "globalism" will eventually result in a "one world government"? not in just a few decades, but perhaps slowly over the course of the next century or two. I'm not being a conspiracy nut, just wondering if anyone else thinks that since the world already has a single economy of sorts, that if at some point (if things continue as they are) this will likely result in some actual global unity.

reset it, will you still get in trouble?

I got an email and phone message with him telling not to worry about showing up, he said he got it reset...

I come to find out I have a warrent out for missing court..

Can I be held responible since I have proof my lawyer told me not to show up?

can anyone help me in finding a way to get discharged from the army, im in the process of trying through the chaplain, because i just dont believe in this, but it seems that he is trying to keep me in. i will keep trying with the chaplain, but any other quick way that is not a dishonerable discharge would be grateful

Please, no lables in your answers. Liberal/Conservative, Democrat/Republican. Lets all work to destroy these labels as they only serve to delude the political discourse.

I didn't ask this to inflame anyone, I just wanted honest opinions.

There were no WMD's. There were no ties to al-Qaeda. While liberating the Iraqi people from Saddam is a nice notion, we have never historically invaded a country solely to liberate its people. And besides, if that were our goal, there are plenty of other places that would have benefitted more from American intervention. So what then?
