The time commitment has to be indefinite. We don't know how long American troops and US security contractors will be needed to protect the reconstruction and oil exploration projects of the mullti-national corporations. They also have to stay to prevent the Iraqi or Iranian government from nationalizing the oil profits, like Saddam did.
What I am saying is that the primary reason I think the US troops are in Iraq is to protect the interests of non Iraqi capitalists .

Iam guessing the war itself will not be resolved for a total of ten years, so that leaves us another three. I imagine after there will be many many years of policing and aid.
