they cannot report the details or anything to my insurance company? I have heard this from a couple of different people that say it works.

I just heard this too. But here is the the whole story. If you pay a couple dollars over the amount of the ticket, they must send you a refund for the amount over. Here is the key...Don't cash the check, dispose of it. They are not allowed to report anything until ALL $ transactions are complete. If you don't cash the check then the transactions will not become complete, and you have fulfilled your part of the traffic fine, therefore keeping yourself from future action.
I heard this from my father who never falls for BS
Hey for a couple extra bucks it's worth a try, my mom just got her first ticket in 35 years, she is defiantly going to try it.
Good Luck!!!
Oh yeah,it is not "reporting it to your insurance company" it's they don't put the point on your record.

That's a myth, but some states have provisions for whether or not they report a ticket to your insurance company. In Indiana, if you are doing less than 25 over the limit, and it's not in any kind of zone (they outline it on the back of the ticket) then if you simply pay it off, they don't report it. However, faster than that, or if you are in one of the prescribed zones, they will report it.

It doesn't matter if the State "reports" your ticket or not......most insurance companies check the driving record of their policy holders on a regular basis........if it is on your record, they will find out.

And more & more tickets from States other then the one you have your license in are starting to show up on your driving record. States tend to share that info and eventually it won't matter where you got the ticket, it will show for everyone.

As for the myth, it is just that, as many people have stated.

The insurance companies have way more money than the State so it will never happen.

No.... this type of urban legend has been coasting the web for years.... it is a lie.

Its just like the other popular myth that if you pay (pick any amount) extra over the fine amount listed that they will not put the points on your license.

Many myths...... all untrue.

Haha. No. The state's going to take their money and they arent going to lie for you so your insurance doesnt go up. They arent that nice. If by chance, you tried that and it did work, someone should really consider the ethics of that officer / judge.
