Do you have to be a US citizen to join the National Guard? I've heard National Guard soldiers referred to as citizen-soldiers, but I didn't even know you had to be a citizen to join. I'm pretty sure you don't have to be a citizen to join the active duty Army because they have a program to help active duty Army soldiers become citizens. If you don't have to be a US citizen to join the National Guard: 1. What percentage of its soldiers are not citizens. 2. Why are they called citizen-soldiers?

For some reason, there are an uncomfortably large number of people whom I've encountered thinking that our government needs to be either democratic or republican. These same people despise the opinions of people on the other side of the fence.

Why can't they see how much the right needs the left, and the left needs the right?

Republicans are realists. They're able to implement policies that guarantee our international safety, as well as the safety of our country's economy. However, many claim they do so without much compassion; often sticking to the constitution instead of the general will of the people.

Inversely, democrats are idealists. They're often proposing the hypothetical solutions, the best case scenarios. This (in my opinion) isn't always realistic for our country, but on an emotional and personal level, it makes more sense to me.

(This is just an interpretation of politicians' beliefs and morals, not their actions, which tend to stray in all sorts of crazy directions.)

It is for these reasons that democrats and republicans need to realize how vital it is that they learn to utilize their opposites' strengths in order to compensate for their weaknesses. Republicans can modify democratic ideas and theories in order to make them more realistic in the real world, and spending time with the Democrats will grant the hardcore Conservatives the opportunity to grow a soul. Win-win, no?

What do you think?

We are being charge for towing and storage fees from the tow yard when the police recovered our stolen vehicle. It was found in a persons backyard and when the officer called us on a friday at 8:30pm, my husband asked if he can come pick up the truck, officer said no he has to tow it because he has to book it. No one told us we would have to pay for the towing and storage fees. All the officer said was " you have to go down to the FMT police tomorrow and we will give you the release form and you take that to the tow yard and you can pick up your truck" . We went to the police and signed/received the release form and I asked the clerk is there a charge when we go there to thetow yard? she said no you just take this release form and pick up your truck. Arrived at the tow yard they told uswe have to pay for the towing and storage fees. Police are stating yes it's our responsibilty. Is there anything we can do legally and hold the police or thief responsible for the charges??

How are they treated? Or I'm afraid that US prisoners are executed on the spot. Further, US soldiers are charged with murder in our courts when they kill Iraqui civilians, and here comes a dumb question. Are the Iraqui insurgents also hold accountable in courts when they kill US or civilians from other countries? I don't hear any outcry from the US government and the American people regarding treatment of US prisoners.

Of course Americans move to other countries all of the time. Some times for a short time and sometimes to a new home. And Rich people are welcome almost everywhere even in Cuba.

I'm thinking also of people with education and skills. They contribute the most in any country. And they are voting with their feet. This Should send a clear straight message to the politicians in any country...hey brain drain party over here!

And no offense but don't be suprised if some educated and intelligent Americans start thinking about life in Argentina or Chile or Costa Rica!

So what do you think of it? Would you maybe consider doing it some day?

Legally of course! ;)

Do anyone really believe that the death of Americans/Iraqis alike is love making in the middle east?
If BUSH/Republicans are dishonest regarding their war agendas, why should anyone else in America be held accountable for dihonesty?
Do any American truly beleive there is/will be victory in Iraq? If so, what is victory?

i think that the leadership in congress and the white house are using the troop reduction as a diversion . the sooner the iraqui security forces can assume a greater control of their country , the sooner our troops can move in to iran . will the uk commomweath forces , now in american soil be able to assume a greater role to protect our nation from future shiite terrorist when our troops invade iran? there are 2 executive orders , one from bush that brought in the commomwealth troops to step in our natioanl guards homeland duties , and the other from the second clinton administration that created a us-mexican border joint chiefs military command to be activated in case of emergency . look at the national archives . when you ask the uk commomwealth troops about their job, they will say they are only training .

I have been talking to soldiers, marines, and others about the 'contractor's army'. Some say they are good, some say they act outside international law and military law to protect U.S. 'business interests', ignoring the Geneva Convention. Some say our guys cannot get the job done. Some say Blackwater contractors have better equipment. Some say they use military equipment and are under military orders. I can find no concrete evidence at this time for any one of those arguments for or against. What do you think? Does anyone have more information? I have seen that they get paid a lot more than real soldiers. This made me concerned, with some military moms on food stamps, because the wages are low. I am also concerned whether armed men such as these will replace our regular US Army and National Guard, underdermining the true security of the United States. I do not know if we can trust people who will kill for money and not for democracy's sake...though I myself do not want Iraq war at all.

It is an ignorant, uneducated, biast opinion that should be stopped. My brother served in the Navy and was in Saudi Arabia, Afghanistan, and Iraq before a medical discharge. Why do some conservatives go on a rant and say that liberals can't love America? Not all conservatives are like this, but the ones who are need to grow up and get off of the playground. Name calling and finger pointing can only take you so far.
