Yes, when Americans actually immigrate. They atleast learn the language and culture. Why wouldn't you? Unlike all the weak illegals in the US.

I have a home in Thailand, and I plan to move there, Living in a 3rd world country I find very exciting. And It is much like the town I grew up in, in the 1940s. The people are very friendly and not materialistic like Americans. It is a completely different life here. I am the only Falang (Foreigner) in the village in the jungle. No, I do not speak Thai, it is a tonal language and a word can have 5 different meanings depending on the tone it is spoken in, I can not hear the difference in tone, due to a hearing loss in the military.

May want to live in nerthlands when I have money, or retire in Mexico, Jamacia. Still, America is great 20 different climates, and its very diverse country. Emigrating outside America would not do it really because get monetary benefit from it, and most countries have a lot higher tax rates than United States. May not agree with American forgien policy, but the cost of living flyover country in USA is cheap, and life is confortable

Well, I never dreamed I would leave my home country of the USA but now I find myself living part-time in Hungary.
In two years or so, it may be full time.
Strange how things happen. We played the game most of our lives, work hard, raise family, pay taxes, buy big house and use credit cards.
It was all fine and dandy until we saw most of the good paying manufacturing jobs disapper, not to be replaced with anything close to them.
Now it is a matter of survival,so we paid cash for an apt. in Europe and hope to live out the rest of our days in peace.
Not exacatly the "American Dream" I was raised to believe.
We didn't mind playing the "game" but the rules changed in the middle without anyone asking if we wanted the change.

I am definately considering it for the long term. It really comes down to a quality of living decision. In the U.S. you can earn obscene amounts of money, get the big house, big car, etc. But I believe the cost becomes to high, not monetary cost, but, at the expense of spending more time with your family, freinds, etc. Hopefully within the next ten years, I'll have enough to move a country of my choice. It's funny you see ex-pats all the time if you travel to Mexico, and they all seem very content.

No offense, but Americans are already living and working in ALL countries abroad. Most even retired in ALL those countries as well.

Here in Mexico there are many Americans, actually the largest number of Americans outside the United States live in Mexico. According to American Citizens Abroad, there are more than 1,000,000 Americans living in Mexico. They are cool, very friendly, and polite.
saludos :)

Legally. I don't know, I like Canada, but I'm American. Lots and lots of people go to South America, it is warm and less expensive to retire in for baby boomers who don't see how they can afford the US when they retire.
That alone is a crying shame, mind you.

It is unlikely, but anything is possible. If we do become a socialist country, as some leaders want, I would very much consider moving. In fact, I have given this some thought.

Yes, I do imagine immigrating and know many Americans searching for the right place for them and planning.
We no longer feel that America will be the future and will stand. It is a large boat , it will float for awhile ... but we fear the sinking . It's too beautiful / too many memories to wait to see it / watch.
It's time to identify the suitable life boats and select one :-)
I am learning myself now , Spanish and Chinese languages . I will have more than one option.
What are your legal plans ??
