I don't think that Iraq had been calm over the past few weeks because of the surge.

Its because General Petraeus and Ryan Crocker gathered local support from the Sunnis who did attack US forces during the early years of the invasion. Primarily to fight against Al Queda.

And Shia leader ceased his militia's operations against US forces.

Guess that enabled operations against Al Queda to be easier.

What's everybody's agenda here?

In order to keep the troops levels up to what Bush wants in Iraq and Afghanistan, we will need to reinstate the military draft. Why isn't he doing it now? Also... In order to pay for this extended open ended, money pit fiasco, we will need to repeal the tax cuts for the rich. Again... Why isn't Bush doing this right now either? What is he waiting for... He is simply going to leave it up to someone else. For this reason, and also for lying to us in the first place, he should be hung for treason! and everybody knows it! Damn you morons that voted twice for this Evil. I just can not believe this... America is in real trouble. All you have to do is drive on the interstate any day at any hour to see what we have become. Total arrogant, ignorant @ssholes... just like our President. Wake up!

I rent a condo in a complex that has a Board who is trying to enforce no skateboards, scooters, bikes, etc.. I have been there for 3 1/2 years and my neighbors who have been there longer than that have stated that this has never been enforced. There is a sign at the entrance to the complex that states that these items are not allowed to be rode. This sign has been there forever and nobody has ever enforced it. Last week a homeowner had a spat with a Board member, and now all of a sudden they are trying to enforce a "sign". But there is no rule. I'm sure when the residents start showing out about it, the Board will have the rule put in the Rules and Regulations. How can we (renters and homeowners) prevent that?

It was on FOX News this morning. Madonna and Brittany need to either convert or die. At least according to the leader of some terrorist group in Palestine.

But yet liberals seem to think we can negoiate with these people!

What do you think about this?

Sen. Dianne Feinstein, D-Calif., plans to offer an amendment to the five-year farm bill that could come to the floor in October that could legalize 1.5 million farm workers. The Congressional Budget Office estimated they would bring another 1.8 million relatives into the country with them.

Majority Leader Harry Reid, D-Nev., assured Feinstein of a vote on the so-called AgJobs measure, which she introduced earlier this year as a freestanding bill (S 340). "I will do everything I can to make sure it is part of the farm bill," Reid said.

I read Gupta's question yesterday.
It was obviously a spoof and quite funny. Went back later to give a funny answer and it was gone.
When I first read it I noticed a very opinionated answer saying she was going to report it. Looks like she did. People like that need to grow up.

Legislation (S 774) labeled the DREAM Act would allow states to provide college benefits to illegal immigrants. This could be offered as an amendment to the fiscal 2008 Defense appropriations bill (HR 3222) later this month. The measure could benefit 1.3 million illegal immigrants.

It's a big step to move to a new country. It takes drive and motivation and courage.
Immigrants are famous for building business on hard work and sacrifice, and yet so many people are against immigration.
Why is that?

The name I was taught for the War in school was "American Civil War." Nowadays, I reject that title because it was not a civil war: the south did not want to take over the US government, it wanted to be free, and I call it the "War Between the States." My wife, a Virginian by birth and a Texan by loyalty, calls it the "War of Yankee Aggression."

I'm just curious as to what other names (if any) are in current usage and how many people use the primary names (Civil War, War Between the States, War of Yankee Aggression) these days.
