Aztlan (which was used above) is the idea that the Southern United States belongs to Mexico and should be reclaimed by them in any way necessary. La Raza is a racist organization that espouses Aztlan and other radical Mexican ideas. Viva La Raza is their "battlecry". I don't think it will be long before they are considered a terrorist group/hate group. Those in the know already consider them one.

(As if you didn't know. I suspect you are a card carrying member)

Viva La Raza means Long Live the People,

At the bottom of the page ,Click on the small Mexican Flag and where the web search is at the top of answers Type in "Viva La Raza"
You will get 100 or more Spanish sites, Radio stations, Sports teams, Travel Agency, Musical Groups. Electronic Stores Etc

Then ask yourself a Question ,would all of these people name their Business after hate groups Such as ( KKK travel agency), or (Nazi Electronic store) ?,

Ask your Husband what it means or to look it up in a Spanish Dictionary.

Good Luck!!

It means you Chicanos that don't want to learn anything, especially from links you posted for public reading on the net SUCK. StoneCold's link, and Slew are accurate with their statements. So are others who really know not only what Viva La Raza means. But what they stand for. Or have you not seen the Mexican flag that flys above the upside down American flag at the MeChA school. Which by the way is treasonist acts upon the soil of USA. And should be addressed by Federal Agents, and other government officials. NO flag is to fly above the American flag in THIS country ever.

Sad thing Lori K is that not only should La Raza, and MeChA be considered terrorists groups, and organizations... But our own damn government gives them tax payer dollars to fund them. Nothing like supporting the enemy against OUR will, and on our OWN soil.

You're trying to make a point aren't you??? It's a foreign language, and therefore can not be expressed accurately in English, atleast that is what the NCLR says. It's actually true for language. What does Aloha means. What does the japanese statement Aragoto mean. Thank you, hello, good by. It has multiple meaning and one at the same time. You hae to think like them to understand them. It's hard for us to undestand how other people think.

Yes La Raza mean race, and I know you read the answer of a similar question. NCLR states it is not race per say and agree that definition would be some what seperatist (racist). They claim it means people or as Bayarealatino stated, family. When I read it, it felt like that they knew it sounded racist and was finding way to spin it. Atleast this is a good sign since they have a ability to recognize what is wrong to a degree. I do not mind this type of activity though. As I said beore, NCLR is a racist group just for the fact they fund MECHA. NCLR acknowledge poblems with MEcha, and disavow some of the more violent members, and also acknowledge hat their founding document is inappropriate. Despite this, they conitnue to fund them because they help Hispanics. That is racist. Think if I would give my money to the KKK because it helps Caucasian. When I checked the origin of the term on wikipedia, it did have a racist tint to it, but I have not verified it. Not that interested . I would take something similar but not as harsh as Norwoods stance, and if NCLR clean up their act, I would nolonger put them on the racist pile. As racist group are, they are mild, and if they stop financing the other group and mabe expel some of the less than ideal, I would stop considering racist.

LOL That's sooo Mexican...

It has nothing wrong at all... And it has different asceptions, many of them already posted up there by my peers, reason why I won't repeat them.

My 2 favorite definitions of this are:

1. La Raza is the name of a Monterrey sport team ("fast soccer" and basketball), so that would be like the cheerleaders would scream: LA! RA! ZA! ... LOL

2. Also, "la raza" is your group of friends, as in "the gang". So you can say things like: "Vamos a ver el partido de fut con la raza..." (We'll see the soccer match with the gang). This widely used in the northern part of Mexico.

viva la raza

La Raza to me means the family. for example I could say were gonna get all the raza together and have a B.B.Q. all my aunts, uncles, cousins, and so on with be there and all the kids with be in the play ground area.

Viva to me means lives, for example viva la mujer means the woman lives so viva la raza would mean the family lives.

And raza does not mean race to me because I don't go to a B.B.Q. with my race but i will go with my family or raza or people.

here some other meanings.

La Raza means the race. It isn't bad if all you do is say it. However there is two racist organizations that use it to mean something very bad. La Raza and Mecha are the two groups that staged the protests you saw on TV last year, with flag burning and demands for rights for illegals.

Something that if whites said it about their own culture would be considered xenophobic.

I believe that to all but the marginal freaks it means Long live the community and culture of our people', but try having European Americans say that and see what sort of impact they have. It IS exclusive in that the undiluted culture is what they are referring to, not any 'melting pot'.
