In the beginning America was founded for people to have religious freedom and to "do their own thing".

Ever since the adaptation of FOREIGN POLICY, the United States has not stopped getting involved with other countries' problems! The United States has its own problems, why do we need to make sure the entire world is in harmony? Let the United Nations do that.

I say we focus on educating our youth, sheltering the homeless, feeding our hungry, and preparing our OWN national defense in case anything happens. Let's improve our security so terrorists can't get in the country! Let's improve our security so people can't easily purchase the ingredients to make gunpower at the local convenient store.

America needs to step up and focus on AMERICA itself; we are hippocrites of our founders.

The Senate immigration bill does not require that the border fence with Mexico, that was mandated by last year's law, be finished before giving amnesty to almost all the illegal aliens in our country. Nor does it require that the new border patrol agents be trained and on duty before amnesty kicks in. Shouldn't these two things be accomplished before granting amnesty to all the illegals in our country?

Why do most Americans seem to identify as a Democrat or Republican first before just being American ? Has pride diminished over there ? Is Political preference more important than National Identity ? So I assume Republicans are Liberal ? or Labour and Democrats ? visa versa, I could find out but really couldn't be bothered ! In Australia the ALP or Labour Party is more working class and the Government or Liberal-National Coalition is more upper and middle class. So whats the distinction there ?

What on earth gives them this preposterous sense of entitlement?

I'm referring migrating to Western Europe, Australia and North America.

In England we put up with civil wars, revolutions, poverty, famine, flood and disease- and we didn't sod off to their countries on mass- why can't they put up as we and others did?

Why do so many simply feel that they can simply up and go to our lands to make a better living- with no thought to the natives (longer duration inhabitants) of that land?

I'm so pissed off at our countries leadership. I'm paying $60 a month for my son's 10 mg zyrtec which he takes once a day. I did an online search. New Zealand and other countries have the generic, Razene available. Want to know for how much? $15 for 3 MONTHS worth! 90 PILLS!
So why???? Why they have it and we don't????
I KNOW! Maybe it's because they have socialized medicine and their government wants to save money? And maybe since we don't our government could care less how much it costs, or if we even have insurance, so the pharmaceutical companies stick it to us! Sad state of affairs.
One more year of Bush. Maybe the Democrats can fix this mess.

"Think of the rest of the world (actually just Europe) like this... they are spoiled children and we are the parents. Which is ironic seeing how most Americans are of European descent. We rebuilt their entire continent after WWII, we defended them from communism for half a century and now we are taking a stand on terror virtually by ourselves. What do we get in return? Ingratitude."

Regardless of what these idiots think, we are in Iraq because they are a threat to the security of America. Who give a sh*t if they have weapons of mass destruction or not? They were defiantly against Western culture and posed a major threat to our way of life. Obviously, had we known the civil war would have ensued we wouldn't have gone in. But pulling out now would be cowardly and irresponsible, and America is all about integrity and decency. And this means not promising to do something and not following through with it.

The National Security and Homeland Security Presidential Directive, signed on May 9, 2007, would place all governmental power in the hands of the President and effectively abolish the checks and balances in the Constitution. If a "catastrophic emergency" -- which could include a terrorist attack or a natural disaster -- occurs, Bush's new directive says: "The President shall lead the activities of the Federal Government for ensuring constitutional government." http://www.alternet.org/stories/52801/

Wouldn't it be convenient for a catastrophic emergency to occur shortly before the next elections? I predict this is exactly what will happen - just wait and see...

I noted the shrill panicky comments on the TB patient crossing borders in the TV broadcast media with amusement yesterday. The first report I read is that it was unlikely to spread, though, CDC was concerned. Fair enough. Instantly it boiled over into a full scale panic shouting out for investigations, damnation of the patient, and, criticism of the government. I believe no matter the issue, broadcasters like to shout fire in a crowded theater when it comes to issues of interest, and, political opinions, to create a viewing audience, at the detriment of the American people.
