I noted the shrill panicky comments on the TB patient crossing borders in the TV broadcast media with amusement yesterday. The first report I read is that it was unlikely to spread, though, CDC was concerned. Fair enough. Instantly it boiled over into a full scale panic shouting out for investigations, damnation of the patient, and, criticism of the government. I believe no matter the issue, broadcasters like to shout fire in a crowded theater when it comes to issues of interest, and, political opinions, to create a viewing audience, at the detriment of the American people.

No kiddin'. As a 'news' junkie' it's getting more and more difficult to get a real 'fix'. Talk radio is totally composed of right wing propaganda, network 'news' is all fluff. Besides, all three networks have exactly the same stories...all sponsered by corporations that push 'who-can-afford-it' pills. CNN is getting as bad as FOX...same old/same old...they grab a basically irrelvant 'story' and stay on it for weeks at a time. Newspapers? Where's the 'news'? When I was polishing verbs for a fairly decent newspaper our motto was, 'What they conceal, we reveal'! Now its mostly the 'cat in the tree stories'. I could go on, but you get the point. Thanks for bringing this one up.

I think about news they have been irresponsible for sometimes. U C it is all about selling, a product or an idea.
You know why soccer is not very popular in US, but World Cup, is a bigger event than Football, Basketball and Base ball combined.? Cause Soccer is played for two 45 minutes half's with 15 minutes break in between, but it is played non stop during the 45 minutes. Not very good for commercials.

Broadcasters are in business. News programming, despite its claims to be above commercial issues is a commercial product. Whatever sells the best will play. Sadly, the resulting programming is the fault of the viewer as the broadcasters merely reflect our desires. We WANT sensational stuff. As a result, that is what we get.
Maybe someday we will want thoughtful, reasonable programming. I certainly hope so.

They have all lost the meaning of the word journalism. Plain and simple. They are controlled by coroporate sponsors of the networks. They have to keep in line with the views of these sponsors so they can keep their jobs. They are totally irresponsible on every level.

Absolutely. Journalism used to be about reporting unbiased truth. Now with all the media owned by big corporations, the journalist are bought and paid for therefore they report like they are told to. It definitely is not to report the unbiased truth.

I heard that TV and radio are owned by a few people in America.
How can it be responsible as there is no one to critisize!
