The Senate immigration bill does not require that the border fence with Mexico, that was mandated by last year's law, be finished before giving amnesty to almost all the illegal aliens in our country. Nor does it require that the new border patrol agents be trained and on duty before amnesty kicks in. Shouldn't these two things be accomplished before granting amnesty to all the illegals in our country?

Absolutely! Build the fence first, but never grant amnesty.

The new bill is supposed to be "comprehensive immigration reform." If you read it, it is a tangled web of repealed laws and changes to existing laws. Nowhere, however, does it mention the Secure Border Fence Act passed by the House and Senate and signed into law by President Bush last October. The new bill has sections on building fences - 2 miles past city limits and only in certain areas.

Border Security should be given priority above all other concerns. It should be in place and guarded like a National Treasure, because America is our National Treasure.Giving Amnesty to millions is almost an immoral act done to American Citizens, and to those who went threw the process of becoming legal the proper way.

We should never give them amnesty no matter what. You are right though. The triggers are very soft and open to individual interpretation. I think they should not address the illegals at all. Use the fund to secure the border and enforce our current laws. The illegals will take care of themselves.

Yes, we must build the fence. I do not know why these bills introduced in congress have to be thousands of pages long. It is quite simple.

1. Build the fence
2. Deport the illegals
3. Enforce the law

Wish there was more, but that is ALL we have to do.

What we have is congress that doesn't want to work to get a decent bill dealing with immigration. The chimp is pushing for these illegals to come to America without ever going back to wherever they came from. There is NO caring about America's citizens as it now stands. If we support those that support this kind of legislation, we have FAILED the American people who have a right to be here!

(sounds like a trick question) we need to immediately secure the border & control it, but never give amnesty to illegals; reform the immigration process, but enforce the law. we have to vote every single idiot out of office that refuses to secure the border, enforce the law, & deport illegals
