Ok, for the answer to be meaningful, the question must be better defined. The state in which you work is important. Texas and most southern states have a right-to-work law which means you do not have to join a union to get a job. Under federal law, there is no discrimination based on race, religion, or national origin. Business and government cannot discriminate against some over the age of 40, but if you are younger age discrimination is allowed. Discrimination based on sex (not sexual preference) is not allowed. However, you can be fired from a job if you are heterosexual. In theory, there is no discrimination based on family status which means a family w/kids cannot be denied an apartment.
