Cindy Sheehan is giving up the fight for peace, on account of a once supportive democratic party not standing up to Bush to end this war. She has warned of blind party loyalism. Will you heed those warnings? or will you continue to pander to the right wing? Who should we peace supporters vote for in 2008?

See Yahoo! story about 100,000 second hand smoke deaths in China. My mother in law died from second hand smoke because her husband smoked, she did not smoke. Don't tell me that it doesn't happen. How can the religious right close their eyes to Republican corruption, support of the tobacco business, thousands of deaths for the freedom of Iraq which has laws to execute any Moslim that converts to Christianity?

I think Christians should try to be more Christ like than to be political, hateful and divisive. Polictics is the opposite of Christianity. Division and hatred vs. love of Christ and each other.

he has told many people, including me, extravagant stories of war injuries, purple hearts, hand-to-hand combat, etc..it turns out that i was directed to look at his dd214, which says he was a storekeeper and no medals, wounds or anything. now, he is saying he degaussed ships in pearl harbor (where he says he was stationed) that he volunteered for diving school and frogman school and that he spent 2 years degaussing ships in hawaii, then went to vietnam where he (blew people up). there is nothing on the dd214 that mentions being in vietnam. it just says that he spent 3 years and 8 months at sea (does that mean on a ship?) he says he spent no time on a ship, did a lot of underwater stuff and went to jump school (again, not on dd214). could he at least be telling the truth about degaussing ships? surely something he has said about his service has a grain of truth....tired of lies. i would have respected him more if he had cleaned toilets and told the truth about it. of proportionality in retribution?

Even assuming that you forget about the Golden Rule for a moment and instead assume that the "eye for an eye" code is the more valid Christian precept of retribution, hasn't the Bush administration violated even THAT principle?

The Bush administration's decision to invade Iraq has directly led to the deaths of at least 100,000 innocent Iraqis from cluster bombs, uranium shells, etc., according to the most conservative estimates. And these Iraqis had nothing to do with either 911 or Saddam's regime.

So if only roughly 3,000 Americans died on 911 and more than 100,000 innocent Iraqis have died due to Bush deciding to invade, doesn't that violate every conceivable Christian precept of proportionality in retribution for wrongs?

Isn't that saying that an American life is worth more than an Iraqi life? Doesn't that violate every Christian precept that all of God's creatures are equal in his eyes?

My second cousin's husband, Klaus Steinhorst, was killed by a drunk driver in 2004. The toxicology report revealed that that driver was under the influence of both alcohol and Xanax at the time and yet the report wasn't allowed as evdience because the driver (surprise surprise) didn't consent to have his blood drawn. Here is a link to the latest article about the crash

Both Reagan and Bush Jr. had the largest increases in the federal budget. True they didn't raise taxes, but they didn't cut spending to pay for it either.

Are Republicans being intellectually dishonest with themselves when they think that huge spending increases will not cause taxes to increase? (Borrowed money must be paid back eventually!)

Besides their line about caring for the environment?
Do they really think that most Americans can afford that?
We still have to go to work. Many of us live in areas where we cannot take a bus or a train. Many of us have children that we have to bring places after work.

Don't get me wrong - I drive a car that gets 30 - 35 mpg, but even my gas cost has more than doubled from when I bought it new in 2002. It cost me 15 to fill it then and its almost 40 on the cheapest grade.
Do democrats really think that taxing gas a huge amount will help the environment that much?
Could we not put our own money to better use.

I am a working mother, a Republican, and not wealthy.

I was watching MSNBC yesterday - which is very rare - and saw a commercial promoting an interview with Al Gore they were going to show later on in the day. Typical interview promotion - different camera angles and sound bites, and a breif list of his accomlishments - in which they actually credited him with PREDICTING Global Warming.

I don't care what your view is about global warming - that's not what this question is about. But what warrants a news outlet to make such a bizare and erroneous statement? Is it now commonly accepted that because Gore made a documentary that he predicted something that many claim has been going on for decades?? Did he predict Global Warming before or after he invented the internet??

Regardless of whether or not you agree with the war, I think it's still important to support our troops. They risk their lives on a daily basis to protect the freedoms that many of us take for granted. So, I'm curious to see what you do to show your support.
I've sent care packages. I stop every person in uniform I see, just to thank them - I frequent the DFW airport, so that's not an easy task if you've ever been there.....thank goodness for long layovers and flight delays, LOL!
I offer to buy coffee, lunch, etc for people in uniforms.
They all tell me they don't hear many people thanking them - I want to do as much as possible. Any new ideas for me?
If you're looking to insult the war or our troops, don't bother, nobody wants to hear you.

My wife is going camping with my daughter in NC and I want to send my SW .38 Airwieght (hammerless, shooting hollow points with the +p loads) with her for protection and MY piece of mind.

Does anyone know a quick breakdown of the laws of NC as far as carry/transport goes. It will not be on her person, but 1) in the car when she travels and 2) in her tent at night.

I just don't want her jammed up in case she is stopped by LE for improper carry in the car.

Thanks for your help. I need a pretty speedy answer to this, as she is leaving today.
