Al Gore PREDICTED Global Warming?

I was watching MSNBC yesterday - which is very rare - and saw a commercial promoting an interview with Al Gore they were going to show later on in the day. Typical interview promotion - different camera angles and sound bites, and a breif list of his accomlishments - in which they actually credited him with PREDICTING Global Warming.

I don't care what your view is about global warming - that's not what this question is about. But what warrants a news outlet to make such a bizare and erroneous statement? Is it now commonly accepted that because Gore made a documentary that he predicted something that many claim has been going on for decades?? Did he predict Global Warming before or after he invented the internet??

Henry the Eigth! So you never heard of global warming or global climate change before Al gore's movie came out? If you did hear about it, then that means he did not predict it.

I'm not blaming him for the ad. I'm blaming the media for its deliberate misguidance.

The ad is absurd, and this Al Gore worship is absurd. He has as much credibility on scientific matters as Carrot Top.

He was not alone in making that prediction. Thousands of eminent climatologists and other scientists have predicted the same thing. Most of the presidential candidates on both sides have recognized it too. Most of the world is aware that global warming is real and that part of it is due to humans. What I don't understand is with all the data and all the people saying that global warming is a fact why people come down on the messenger, Al Gore. Could it be they need some lame reason to hate the guy and he hasn't given them anything so they are using his work on global warming as a focal point for their hate?

First off, do the idiots in here actually think Gore made up the preview for the interview...so how would it be his fault...No one predicted Global Warming, it's one of those things discovered after the fact...and if anyone checked facts, he said he was an early advocate of the internet, not that he invented it, which looking at his history, is actually quite true. but keeping trying to fan the flames of stupidity instead of interacting in reasoned debate, it must be nice to have no real worries about the direction your people have taken this great country down to

and figured out that, after 10 trips to the Buffet, the temperature of the world would rise 1 degree.

No Al Bore did not predict global warming. I can remember Prince Charles bringing this up around 30 years ago.when everybody here in England laughed at Him when He said we all should hug trees and not cut them down, Just like MacDonalds do for their cattle. which makes me laugh as Mikkey Ds doesnt taste like meat.

considering the fact that HE hasn't claimed that he envisioned global warming, i do not imagine you fairly ought to fret about the timing ;-) As for MSNBC - they are basically attempting to get visitors and make some greenbacks - no vast information there.
