Everybody seems to be worried that if they join the army will they be deployed to Iraq. What do you think you join the Army for-----to sit around BS'ing and drinking beer all day? The army, marines, etc fights wars. If you don't want to run a chance of being in a war, don't join the military.

It will be over before you know it. I know a bunch of guys that had kids when I went to basic. I guess it make a difference of how old they are. I would say that if they are 5 or older then they will be find. As longs as they will be able to stay with your hubby they will be fine. Plus, once you join you will be sending a check home while you are training. I would join. The hardest part will be that you wont be able to email or call, you will have to send snail mail which gets kind of annoying after awhile. I think you should. I did and it was totally worth it. Good Luck. P.S.- To all the other guys, yes motherhood is important, but in response I would say that protecting your children and providing them with a future is one of the best parts of being a parent. How better can you do both than by joining the Army. Not only are you protecting you are getting a nice bonus, I smell college money. I take it back, your kids at any age are fine. It's only 9 weeks. Then AIT when you will be able to communicate regularly. What are you thinking about making your MOS.

If you stay in the NG for any length of time, regardless of MOS, youcan expect to be mobilized somewhere. Many missions run these days are not MOS-specific. A cable installer can pull guard duty just as well as an infantryman. If you are looking to find an MOS that is "safe" from mobilization, you're probably not going to find one.
That being the case, pick an MOS you are good at, or will enjoy. Oh, and be proud to serve your country overseas, or don't join at all.

There is a good chance that you MIGHT be deployed to Iraq. Check with the recruiters or others that are in the Army National Guard and ask questions. Its your life.....

It's a possibility you may be deployed to Iraq. Then again, maybe not. And yes, there is also a chance you may be wounded (or worse) if deployed to Iraq. Afterall, it is a war zone.
