If you fail to enforce your copyright against infringers over a period of time, could you lose your copyright?

eg. If you don't use it, you lose it.

If you fail to enforce your copyright to the extent that that brandname becomes so synonymous with a product that referring to the brand name could be considered descriptive, you may not be able to enforce your copyright. Plus, copyright expires after a period of 50 years anyway.

copyright does not require any renewal process currently. failure to prosecute minor infringers does not reduce your rights. you would have to place your work intentionally into the public domain to lose any rights.

your best bet is to file a registration with the copyright office, it is a one time fee for a lifetime of protection.
