If America elected a president that was African American, Chinese, Japanese, Mexican, or any other race that isn't white, what would you do or think? If you're against it, why?

If I agreed with their ideas, I wouldn't care if we had a purple-skinned lesbian quadruple amputee for President.

A person (male or female) that is qualified to do the job is a good candidate. We have no objections to scientists from other nations leading us into technology, and scholars are not banned because of their race. It is shallow to think that a female president would not do a good job, and likewise, a Chinese, or Japanese or whatever couldn't do well...I would have voted for Colin Powell as a dynamic leader to be president, and President Hu JinTao of China would do a remarkable job...Color does not influence the intelligence of a person.....only those who look at them as different.

I think color has nothing to do with getting the job done. If obama gets the primary vote as the democratic nominee I am voting for him becuase I like where he stands on his issues. The question should be Do we believe a woman should be president? I am all for womans rights but can a woman make a split second decision to bomb innocent children and women if the need be?

Americans choose what they think is best for them.
They don't buy Japanese cars because they love the Japanese, they buy them because they are what they WANT.
The same is true for politicians.
Race and sex has little to do with the issue.
Whoever is elected, you can know that it is the person considered most likely to represent what Americans want
If a candidate can only discuss matters of sex or issues of race, they represent only a small portion of the electorate and will loose to whoever is most balanced in their views, regardless of their race or sex.

I would have no problem with it. We may just be in that situation for the next election. We could possibly see Obama or Hilary as the next president of the U.S.A. If this actually happens then George W. is the one that made it possible by alienating most of the American public and destroying the Republican party.

Who cares what color they are? You're either capable or you're not.

Bush is White and I would say you're hard pressed to find a worse President. I think it would be good for this country to get out of the stone age.

The problem is this world still hasn't gotten over race yet, until things like this happen, you're not likely to see us go in that direction either.

America truly is a very young country, we got a long way to go.

i wouldnt think any differently. America is the 'melting pot' of the world and i think it would be awesome to display a variety of culture with a non-white president. I would rather have a Japanese president because the japanese population and culture is very respectful and intellegent, maybe our japanese president will actually do something productive for our nation....

Personally I have no problem with it. I don't look at race, gender, sexual orientation, or religion when I vote. I look at how one stands on issues and only how they stand on the issues. If they refuse to talk about the issues I refuse to vote for them or vote party if none of them do in the hopes that the general party philosophy will come through. That isn't always something that works well but it is the best one can do in such a situation.

As long as that person is an American --the most qualified
has my vote no matter race, color or gender.

I see no problem with it. People that have a problem with it are backwards.

People should be focussed in on whether or not the person has a background of accomplishing things and whether or not they would be good for our country. Independent thinkers that do things for the good of our country and that don't cave to party politics are best.

I have no objections, as long as they do the right things. The same goes for Whites.
