Sadly, Virginia Tech's thoughtless policies caused the victims to be unarmed:

BLACKSBURG - Virginia Tech's recent action against a student caught carrying a gun to class could draw unwanted attention from groups already angry about firearms restrictions on public college campuses.

University officials confirmed that, earlier this semester, campus police approached a student found to be carrying a concealed handgun to class. The unnamed student was not charged with any crimes because he holds a state-issued permit allowing him to carry a concealed gun. But the student could face disciplinary action from the university for violating its policy prohibiting "unauthorized possession, storage or control" of firearms on campus

our president uses not being able to find binladen as an excuse to keep the war going so if they can find him then the troops might be able to come home.

Republican, Abramoff, "Doolittle" sounds like a generic name for the entire Republican Congress that was kicked out in '06.

How long will it take to become a Major, if he goes for the requirements per month and year, plus some extra days?

How about Colonel?

How about General?

Also, will his rank be considered equal to an officer of his same rank on active duty?

THANKS!

and you think it's wrong to pay someone to use a gun and take money from someone. Then why do you think it is OK to use the Government to take money from the rich (higher taxes) and give it to you? (The non-rich)

If you want to tax the rich more than you are taxed, and you want government medicine, welfare, wic, and other social programs that are paid with tax money, then you are basically using the Government to take money from someone and give it to you.

Why is it ok to steal from the rich as long as you use the government to do the stealing?

Just for the record I only make 20,000 a year, and I do not take government assistance.

the VT shootings are a national tradgedy yet some of you want to use it to make a political point about libs or cons.....this was not politically motivated this was madness at its worst it does not matter what political view this sick young man subscribed to. when you try to use these young peoples deaths to make a political point its like rubbing salt into their wounds and the wounds of our nation........

To make a long story short, we have been told by our 6 yo DD, that the 12 yo DD of my best friend of 30 yrs, has been doing inappropriate things with her when in her room alone. The other girl denies everything. Both girls are sticking to their stories. We are considering taking our DD to a counselor to deal with this issue, as well as to determine the truthfulness. (yes, we believe her, but this is going to destroy two families) So, my Q is that, if a counselor determines her story to be the truth, are they legally obligated to report this to the authorities. We DO NOT want to press any charges as long as my friend gets her DD some help. She is a single Mom, no other family, and its going to be hard enough on her that we are now no longer part of her life). Our DD seems to be handling everything good so far, but we do, maybe, want to also seek outside help. Help on my Q is appreciated, not looking for judgement. T/Y in advance.

My b/f has been to court many times reagrding his 5 year old son. At first, he was going to court because the mother would not let him see his son, and now he is going back because of unpaid child support (about $200, btw). But there have been many visits in between and he has always showed up alone while she always has a lawyer. In the future, I think it might be a good idea for him to show up with representation. However, we can not afford a lawyer. The child's mother has yet again denied him his visitation for reasons that I understand she is not able to deny visitation to him for. When he goes to family court again, how can we find him representation? What do we look up in the phone book? We just need to be pointed in the right direction, because we have no idea where to find a free lawyer if its even possible. Please help.

Robert James Woolsey, former director of the CIA, public servant under evrey president since Nixon, educated at Stanford, Oxford and Yale said in an interview in Motor Trend that the way to beat the terrorists is to become independent of foreign oil. He drives a Prius - the bumper sticker on it reads, "Bin Laden Hates This Car."

"We're paying for both sides of this war, and that's not a good long-term solution."

If we are serious about security, isn't it time for a complete redo of this nation's energy policy?

My boyfriend is considering joining the army. I dont know what to think, or what to expect if he does join. I have dated guys that were already in the military when we started a relationship, but this is the first relationship where he is just joining. I am a strong person and know what to expect, but he is "the one" and I think being without him for long amounts of time will be much harder than in my past relationships because I know I love him with all my heart. Him and I have also talked about getting married even before he talked about the army. I dont know if we should consider marriage before he actually gets deployed or not. I need some advice on how to support him, what to expect, or just any advice in general.
