How long will it take to become a Major, if he goes for the requirements per month and year, plus some extra days?

How about Colonel?

How about General?

Also, will his rank be considered equal to an officer of his same rank on active duty?

THANKS!

There are several things to consider. The first is time in grade, the second is his profile ( how promotable is he)and third is the overall profile of his organazation. If there are too many majors he is going to have to wait. The same holds true for each following rank.

The rank is the same weather he is active or reserve, the credibility and respect you gat as reserve is almost laughable.

if the captain has a regular air force commission, he has the option of retaining his reserve commission in an inactive status. If after leaving, he joins the air guard and puts enough time in to get 20 good years for retirement, the time between the active duty termination and the accession to the air guard counts as time in grade as on O-3 and counts toward time federal military service. Example, if a captain gets out of active duty after 9 years and spends 5 years in an inactive status, then joins the air guard and spends 11 years in the guard, he will have gotten his 20 good years (9+11). Assuming he gets promoted to LT COL along the way, then when he retires from the air guard, he pay will be based on 25 years, not 20

However, the above scenario cannot take place if the active duty captain only has a reserve commission (the kind you get after AFROTC), then we he separates from active duty, he is done.

creditability i found is how you are as an officer if you ask like an young enlisted then the old enlisted are going to treat you that away but if you demand respect you get it. your records go before a board just like active. its important that you keep your own records I found many record section have no idea (i used to inspect them)what they were doing be sure your packet is current and your regulation photo is correct. you would be surprised how many i seen that don't know placements of their ribbons, good luck
