and you think it's wrong to pay someone to use a gun and take money from someone. Then why do you think it is OK to use the Government to take money from the rich (higher taxes) and give it to you? (The non-rich)
If you want to tax the rich more than you are taxed, and you want government medicine, welfare, wic, and other social programs that are paid with tax money, then you are basically using the Government to take money from someone and give it to you.
Why is it ok to steal from the rich as long as you use the government to do the stealing?
Just for the record I only make 20,000 a year, and I do not take government assistance.

Yes Canada pays taxes thier taxes are higher than ours. The Canadian Gov. suplements and controls their health care and if you ask them most will tell you that their health care is bad.

Open4one I would agree with you about any other tax but not income tax, and not rich but business. The rich are people not companies they cannot just pass the buck to someone else. Companies can pass many taxes like social security on to the people the by their products and do, but they cannot pass on the income tax. Company income tax is based on how much money (profit) they made. If they raised the price to cover the tax they would make more money and owe more taxes. As for the rich you are sadly mistaken if you believe that they do not pay taxes. The truth is the top wage earer of this nation (the rich) pay most of the taxes.

Spidermilk666 Not taxed the same amount taxed at the same rate. To be honest I’m in favor of the Fair Tax. It would eliminate the income tax altogether.
As for Canada and other Countries having better health care than us, you are wrong. Cheaper yes, better no. In fact many, Canadians prefer to come to the US spend their own money and get health care here because it is better. Nothing is special made for them they use the same products. The difference is the Government pays for it, or most of it. But the Government also tells you what doctors you can see, and where you have to go to get medical attention. It can take months to see a doctor, especially for non-threatening injuries or illness. And if you are terminally ill you might not get medication at all, if you’re going to die why waste money on you. That’s what happens when the Government controls your health care.

I usually pay about $4000 a year in fed taxes. But I have co-workers who earn the same amount as me who pay nothing AND THEN they get subsidized by the government (refunds that are more than what they paid in). Their subsidy comes from those who actually pay taxes. And then they feel they should have the right to vote. I feel that if you don't pay taxes to the government then you should have no right to have a say about who's in office. How fair is it that these freeloaders get to vote on what MY tax money gets spent on? All they want is a higher percentage of redistribution of wealth. They feel that those who work smarter or harder should pay for their personal failures or their decision to have children that they can't afford to take care of without having the government pick the pockets of responsible people to subsidize them.
If they want o have a say in how taxes are spent or the workings of our government they should have to pay the same percentage as everyone else---with no deductions for their personal choices.

Are you saying everyone should be taxed the same amount?
In order for this to work it would have to be a very small amount, otherwise how would those without good jobs be able to afford it? Then how would the government get the GOBS of money that it wastes? I CERTAINLY agree that the government should attempt to spend less money, but it is still needed for roads, education, defense.
If you don't want the government to steal from you, then leave the country. Good luck finding some land where you won't be taxed though. Especially where you won't be taxed and you will have the safe, cushy life you have here!
or you could become Amish, I don't think they have to pay taxes (because they don't use any of the services provided, other than maybe the protection but their lives are so isolated it doesn't really matter).
PS: Other countries (canada, european countries) have better healthcare because they pay more taxes. So when they get a knee replacement the company makes it especially for them instead of pulling it off the shelf.
PPS: You guys should watch the Disney version of Robin Hood. He steals from the rich and gives to the poor and he's great!

Well, I do think it's wrong to take money from someone by force, and that does include the government using the force.
Look up "theft" in a law dictionary. There's nothing that excepts taxes.
edit: probably no one will read this, but I'll throw it out here anyway.
The rich NEVER pay taxes. They always find someone to pass the taxes along to. Landlord making too much? Raise property taxes and guess what? Renters pay it. Oil companies making too much? Raise gas prices and guess what? YOU pay more at the pump.
Taxes are what's killing the middle class, not anything the rich are doing, unless you count the rich people in Congress on BOTH sides of the aisle.
The best answer is to end all income taxes and go to user fees and border tariffs.

Taxes -
The Internal Revenue service which collects taxes in America is a privately owned company { yes you read that right } although the public are lead to belive it is part of the government . In 1863 the bureau of Internal revenue was fromed to collect taxation , but in 1933 three members of the Prescott/Bush family Helen and Clifton Barton and Hector Echeverria formed the Internal Revenue Tax and Audit Service registered in Deleware . In 1953 , the Original Bureau of Internal Revenue was disbanded , leaving the privately owned Internal Revenue Service to collect all the taxes .
I bet your thinking how did all this get started well my friend , to understand this we have to travel back in time to the first president George Washington { tune in some soothing music } . When George Washington became president he appointed Alexander Hamilton as his secretary of the treasury . Hamilton introduced the bank to the United States , a privately owned central bank which began to lend money to the newly established U.S. government so creating control by debt { I think you can figure that out } . However the bank of the United States as it was called , caused so much poverty , bankruptcy and rebellion that it was eventually closed down , but soon after came its replacement - The Federal Reserve . Interesting to mention the bankers who wrote the bill for the United States Bank were hated by the public because of what I mentioned above . However they are the same people that wrote the bill for the Federal Reserve and whenever they were in public they vehemently opposed the bill for the Federal Reserve that they wrote themselves !!! It was clear manipulation as the public hated these guys and they were so unpopular that support for the Federal Reserve bill increased ten fold . The bill was then pushed threw congress just before Christmas in 1913 when many congressman were at home with their families for the holidays . However to ensure an endless supply of funds for the government they introduced the Federal Income Tax bill also in 1913 . They did this very sneaky as they needed an amendment { we know today as the 16th } and that required 36 states to agree . But philander knox , the secretary of state at the time simply announced that the required majority had been achieved and the bill was then introduced . To this day the Federal Income Tax is illegal yet they continually get away with having americans pay .
Side note- there is no law { that's right let me say that again } no law , that says Americans must pay Federal Income Tax but they go on paying year after year after year because they think they have to and those that know its illegal do so anyway because they are in fear if they don't , as they would lose their house , business , car you name it . Which by the way is the very diffeniton of terrorism and also why people see the United States Government by deffiniton , carrying out terrorist acts .
The Federal Reserve the so called central bank of the United States isn't Federal nor does it have any reserve . The Federal Government of the United States does not own a single share in the Federal Reserve and the American people cannot purchase them . Profits exceed 150 billion a year and the Federal Reserve has not once , in all its history published audit records . Another interesting item I found while doing my investigation as to how the Federal Reserve spends all that money { get ready } to pay off the National Debt , I know I couldn't believe that either .

The rich people wouldn't be rich if we didn't have the kind of government that we did. You don't like it here, try living in a communist country, where no one is rewarded for hard work or ingenuity. Otherwise, everyone needs to pay his/her share. Yeah, the richer get taxed more, to a point, but that's the system we have.

At $26,000 a year, its nice to see someone else that thinks rationally. For those who claimed the 'rich' are benefiting from government services: I don't mind paying for what the government is supposed to do. I do mind paying to GIVE other people things I don't have money to buy myself.

I have never paid my taxes by gun point I just mail in a check. I guess you can say that the guards in prison are holding guns when you get put there for not paying your taxes. If you are going to ask that then why are you not asking why Canada gets free health care. Do they pay taxes? Why do they pay so much less for medication and here we have people that can not afford their medication and have to skip it..
NOT FAIR

If the rich didn't benefit from the various services the
government provides, and if this wasn't a democracy
where the decisions are made jointly ...
you might have a point.
However, the rich do get governmental services
and they do have a vote.
And they are free to leave.

Open your eyes they are not stealing from the rich to give to the poor. The rich are wiping out the middle class.
So do you think it is fair that the rich keep getting astronomically richer while the poor keep getting poorer, and the middle class is being destroyed?
