The typical white collar Government employee makes about half what their private industry counterparts do. Every year they get a Cost of living increase and typically their health insurance goes up more than their raise, so they are steadily falling behind. No longer do Govt workers have job security they once had because of contracting out of certain types of work. Their retirement is below the national average as well. About the only benefit that the govt employee has that is worth much is the annual leave and sick leave policy.
How about instead the elected officials made minimum wage and werepart of the Social Security system. I think you would see a whole different picture

specific, this is strictly what could take place. that's what occurs contained in something of the job marketplace, different than for the guy made constraints of minimum salary, and union contracts. isn't it thrilling that it is the unions that are the main important supporters of the minimum salary. right here in Washington State, living house of the rustic's maximum minimum salary, it is going up each and every Jan. 1st in a ineffective attempt to make the minimum salary a "residing salary". of direction, this could in no way take place. each and every Jan. a million, everybody will improve fees to compensate, wiping out any benefit. together as some marginal agencies only close, salary compression is popping further and extra human beings into minimum salary workers. some have reported that for the time of 10 years, seventy 5% of workers in Washington State would be working for minimum salary. on the grounds that this state has been controlled by the Democrats for almost 30 years, i assume this is Nirvana, to them. besides, because of the fact the minimum salary will improve, agencies are inspired to replace workers with an ever increasing quantity of automation. right here in Washington State, self-provider is everywhere, and not purely at gasoline stations and banks. Hardware shops, grocery shops, even action picture theaters are actually self-serve/self-checkout. the place there was once a great number of minimum salary jobs, now there are few.

Having worked for several government entities, I can assure you that they are not highly paid. At one point the deal was made that although the pay would not be up to the private sector, the job would be guaranteed with no layoffs. Also there would be very little bargaining over a small increase of wages. Both these promises have been broken many times.

I work for the government of NY state, and I don't make much more than minimum wage. Government jobs are for the benefits, not for the pay.

here's something you should know about government employees thay have a job like no one else... the reason being is because thay do not work for profit thay are civil servants and their work is not ez like everyone thinks... because thay are given jobs and are told how to do it.. because thay are "servants of the people" its very frustrating and in some ways a downer because these people no their jobs and know better ways to do it.. but thay must fallow instructions
