Let's see:

- He came up with first income tax.
- He believed labor was superior to capital. Theodore Roosevelt, PROGRESSIVE Republican, quoted him on that and expected to be called a communist after he said it
- He exchanged correspondence with Karl Marx in which Marx congratulated Lincoln on his re-election and supported his war agains the South as part of the worker's revolution
- Karl Marx wrote another letter to Johnson over Lincoln's assasination. He called Lincoln one of the rare men who succeeded in becoming great without ceasing to be good.
- The party he belonged to was referred by southerners as the "Radical Republican Party" because they thought they were being too tough with them over reconstruction.
- This Radical Republican Party was based in the socially liberal northeast and led by such men as Charles Sumner from MASSACHUSETTS (not Alabama).

I posted a question earlier about Muslims against liberalism. Several liberal users posted great answers, really great answers.
I was disappointed when I when to their profile page and they had no email link. I hate when that happens. I love to give out kudos and hate it when I can't.
Anyway, here's a public kudo to the liberal responders who took the time to give really good answers. It was a pleasure to read your thoughts.

If the post office has a mailbox with an 11:00 AM pickup, will my mail be processed any faster than if I drop it in a mailbox with a 3:00 PM pickup, or just put it in the mailbox at the curb?

So many times we are calling each other names, swearing at each other, and even making threats to kill each other! I know it's not everyone, but it seems almost impossible to have an intelligent discussion over an important political issue without derogatory and childish language. We're all Americans. Wouldn't it be nice if we could approach eachother with an open mind, show a little respect, and try to understand our differences?

Do you guys really believe that 100 years from now, America will be a more right-wing conservative country?

That is certainly not the trend America and the rest of western civilization has followed. Except for a few

minor setbacks, the trend has been towards:
- expanding the rights of minorities
- expanding social freedoms for everybody
and
- toward more government regulation of business and more social programs in an effort to protect workers, citizens, consumers, and the environment from aristocracy and corporate abuse

I find it odd that the liberals in this country seem to speak up and defend these Muslims whose goal is to eliminate liberalism.
The USA may have committed some grievances against Muslims nations, but until 9/11 we never caused the loss of life. We never flew airplanes into their buildings and killed thousands. We never cut anybody's head off on worldwide TV. I don't recall ever seeing a group of Americans chanting down with Muslims.
All we ever did to them was beat them out of money and messed with their politics.
Why do some many liberal minded people feel that the USA should be the one to start peace talks. Why are not more liberal minded people upset with these fanatic Muslims when it's liberalism these Muslims want to bring to an end?
Logically, it seems to me that it should be the liberals beating the war drums in this country right now, not the conservatives.
