So many times we are calling each other names, swearing at each other, and even making threats to kill each other! I know it's not everyone, but it seems almost impossible to have an intelligent discussion over an important political issue without derogatory and childish language. We're all Americans. Wouldn't it be nice if we could approach eachother with an open mind, show a little respect, and try to understand our differences?

I have said this before...but I guess it just doesn't sink in..

The key to having an intelligent conversation is one simple word...

RESPECT (and more than just a little)

Even if you disagree with someone's views.....respect them, and POLITELY express your views...hopefully someone will think...

"Wow...they respect what I said...but disagree with it. Now I understand how this whole give&take thing is supposed to work!"

Remember...you can please some of the people some of the times...but not all of the people all of the time.

The ones who consistently resort to third-grade name calling tactics do it because they haven't yet graduated to the sixth-grade level of resorting to rhetorical and accusative rants to prove a point and push an agenda. These are also known as questions that they really don't want anyone else to answer, and they're easy to recognize if you pay attention.

In junior high, they begin distorting facts (which are mistaken for opinions, and vice versa) and learning how to use emotion to select evidence for an unsupported conclusion.

Liberals do it. Conservatives do it. Humans do it.

We're not all Americans, but wouldn't it be nice to say that we're proud of our fellow countrymen, whatever citizenship we claim?

Name calling and attacks is what you get when there is a lack of evidence. Sometimes people will attack the evidence provider before it will harm the father figure protectionist image and before the evidence can weaken the father figure image. When you hear a argument ask yourself is the other side using evidence as a rebuttal or do you just hear "some people say" or "I heard that "

Because they do not present the facts. Their source of knowledge is either the Fox news channel or their gut. They are not open to new and different ideas. They support blindly and fail to explain their choices in a civilized manner.

Politics have always been that way, in fact during the debate on slavery, it is known members Congress were actually not above bringing weapons, or using them.

All and all, name calling is an improvement.

score keeping i would guess, to at least some degree.

some see what they feel is an outrageous lie about something and so then write their own distorted 'question.'

i would also suggest that at least some of the posters out here are not for real.

any who repeat talking points word for word should be suspected of having ties that are not being disclosed...

I have asked this question before. I respect the Repulicians even if they do not respect the Democrats. I try not to offend either party.

i did not use the be conscious racist because of the fact to me its a lots worse situation than in basic terms be racially conscious. i take advantage of it now because of the fact too lots of the failings I see and pay attention can't be interpreted any opposite direction. Obama depicted as a monkey, that not-incredibly-human hangover from the slave days stated amid the too harmless seem on the face of the persons who say it. in spite of each little thing they say Bush strengthen into referred to as a monkey too. They recognize there strengthen into no long term attempt to make a white guy a fragment of a human. Sexist? shall we communicate the anti abortion, anti delivery administration bunch, its a woman's job to maintain her legs closed in accordance to the Republican choir, not the mans to maintain his zipper up. it is sexist. Homophobic? Its not Democrats that beat up gays, desire to exclude them from issues that different valid taxpayers can do, even prisoners can marry, the place the hell is the sanctity in that? yet gays can not marry. it is homophobic. while your social gathering is taken over via people who make no bones approximately being disgusted that a black synthetic it to president, call his spouse a wookie and worse. think of his grandma indexed him as an American so he could desire to get welfare...properly, what else are you able to call it yet racist? you don't love it, replace it, communicate coverage, help people who do not mean he in common terms have been given into 2 Ivy League colleges by using affirmative action. do not help people who're racist, sexist, and homophobic. Then we are in a position to start the extreme organization of governing the rustic as rational adults. something i don't see lots of now.

For YAnswers, a lot of them might be third graders.

For the media, they all act like third graders for ratings.

For congress, they're complete idiots and the ones who SHOULD be above all this. But they're not. They're irresponsible.
