I agree. I find the idea of moderate republicans very attractive.

Abortion is one of the basis of the principles of the Republican party. If they had dropped it, they would lose some of their base, that is to say, the church, and the right-wing of America. (Their are some people who think that things like abortion and gay rights are the DECISIVE thing, instead of taxes, the economy, foreign policy, government spending, etc. These people are die-hard Republican fans.)

But I think that the characteristic of the Republican part (and the Democrats nowadays) is corporate welfare, and hard taxes at the rest of us. Also, there is little or nothing done to improve the grossly inefficient body that we call the US government. Beyond partisanship, the 2 parties really end up accomplishing more or less the same thing.

The smaller goverment idea is now almost a joke in this Nuclear age. I do believe that if the Democrats were Pro-Life or even against gay marriage they would be unbeatable. So many regular everyday Americans are Democrats but the Dems have went to far to the left. I am a democrat but I am aginst gay marriage and I am Pro-Life but I will never be a Republican because they are basically at the beck and call of big business and our "Democracy" is more important to me than whether or not we are the worlds richest country.

No, the abortion issue is a strong one, but there are many, many issues which neither party is addressing. What we need is a new political party that is truly of the people, and not of the special interest groups.

No, without thier 'base' - which includes radical single-issue abortion foes - they wouldn't have the grass-roots and financial support to mount successful campaigns.

Similarly, without their own radicals safely pacified by unflinching support for abortion, the Dems would face a similar problem.

Other red herrings that'd just rise to take its place even if abortion were dropped by both parties might include: gay marriage, school prayer, flag burning, etc...

the reason why GOP loses the women's vote because of abortion. take it away and they would pick up 10-15 %.
that would win most elections.my fear most young women are one issue voters when comes to abortion.
if the Dem's want raise taxes by 10% they would still vote for them.

No. I think if the Democrats picked it up and nominated a pro-life, pro-union, pro-American candidate...they would be unbeatable.

Republicans have sold out to the libertarian anarchist money worshippers. That said I am registered Republican, but I am a Pat Buchanan Republican - A REAL Republican.

the genuine themes will by no ability get suggested because of the fact it would desire to jeopardize votes come this November. there are maximum of themes which will by no ability get tapped because of the fact it hasn't gotten to the element of unmanageability yet. That seems to be our #one million way we study. We wait till issues will become so ridiculous that we would desire to continually do something. the two events suck. we've this back and forth partisan see-observed between Democrat and Republican. i don't understand what its going to take for a deviation. maximum persons are uninformed at whats happening, and that i in my opinion could have them no longer vote in any respect, then flow to the polls because of the fact they seem to be a Democrat or Republican and vote by ability of social gathering in basic terms. Ron Paul had his faults, yet he replaced into the closest to touching the genuine themes, and you notice how human beings tried to close him up? it is a loose u . s . a . yet specific regulations practice. all of us desire to have self assurance somebody is in the back of the wheel because of the fact god forbid somebody takes very own duty. persons are going to have self assurance what they desire to have self assurance, in spite of what the mainstream media tries to shove down our throats.

I'm a Republican, and I don't really care about the MADE UP right to choose. I do however take exception to supreme Court Justices creating constitutional rights where none exist.

No, that's only ONE issue. We have to get away from making key decisions on party based on one issue.

however, keeping taxes low goes a long way. Both parties also have to get much more fiscally responsible.
