if you want to see some amazing stats, look up the violent crime statistics for the county of edgefield, south carolina.

this is where strom thurman came from.

vengeance crimes are as common there as they are in corleone, sicily.

the idea that 'pride' is something worth fighting and dying over was born (at least in america) there.

men would routinely duel over card games gone awry - in fact stron thurman's father killed a man over a game of faro.

this was not unusual.

the inner city ideals of fighting over being 'dissed' can be traced to this pastural, rural setting.

it also throws a bit of water on the idea that crime stats are higher in big cities than the countryside.
