I really like our ballots in San Francisco, but I've also voted in San Diego (using the chad system). With all the controversy around counting votes and making them understandable, why hasn't there been one single voting system selected as "the best" and adopted by every county/state?

I came here as an immigrant and petitioned by my employer working as a nurse. After few months of work I decided to get maried and since he live in other state I am the one that will move to where he is. So, I will buy out my contract which means I'll pay the money that is being stated in the contract if I don't finish it. Just wondering if it can affect my status as an immigrant.

If I were to run for a public office such as Gov. or United States President, would you, the general public vote for me? If say I ran upon these beliefs: 1) the Judicial only states the legality of law based upon the US constitution, 2) no matter who all US citizens fall under the laws of the United States, 3) implimintation of a uniform tax code, 4) abollishing the 'Death Tax', 4) encouraging citizens to save their earnings themselves, 5) limited Gov. involvement outside of foriegn relations, 6) prohibiting illegal aliens from possessing drivers liscences, 7) discontinuing affirmitive action.

It has already been proven that more americans voted on American Idol than in the presidential elections...take in account all of the underage teenieboppers.....Why is voting for political candidates not as important as voting for Kelly Clarkson? Is a right that so many people fought for not really that important?

For this she was sacked by the then German Chancellor, i.e. she was asked to resign.
My question is twofold:
1.) Was she right in making the comparison? If so, why?/If not, why not?
2.) Do you think that she should have been forced to resign. Give the reasons for your opinion.

AUD = Australian Dollars

So how much does it cost government to manufacture 1 average missile in Australian dollars? I'm calculating some statistics...Also after giving me the answer, how long (in days, months or years) will that amount of money (to manufacture that one missile) feed a child struck by poverty in Africa? I would like to know, thanks people :)

The world. With thousands of cultures, ethnicities, religions, races.,etc. 193 countries worldwide; entire population 6 billion people and counting,
We have a president who is attempting to bring "democracy" to Iraq and eventually other countries But maybe it wasn't exactly meant to be that way. We remember the Tower of Babel where God struck people with different languages so they could not communicate with each other.( I don't know if this was true & in a way it seems rather a myth,) Leasttwise. who is to say that "democracy" is meant for EVERY one of these six billion people inhabiting this world of ours.(minus "existing democracies")
You say there is nothing better. But how do we know this? We live in a 'democracy;' we are educated and intelligent(some of us anyway) and yet it is a monumental task just keeping our OWN problems under check.
I am suggesting that a democracy" for one group may appear to be a means to "control' for other groups. "

My husband is currently in prison and he asked me to see if I could find some information about grants or anything that he would be able to get to help us either now or when he get outs. He wants to start a business maybe but we'd need some kind of help. More specifically he is interested in possible grants to go back to school to learn more about what he's interested in and get licenced before we'd open the business. Does anyone know of anywhere that could help us with something like that considering he's a convicted felon that still owes on his fines. please help me. I've been looking but have had no luck. I'd think there would have to be something out there to help people like this so they can do something productive with their lives and not end up locked up again. He got his GED a few years ago and really wants to go to a trade school to learn what he needs as soon as he gets released but we cannot afford it without some kind of help.

Why can cops pull you over for no reason given? I thought I had heard that they have to give you a reason. But when I say this to them, they will say that they are checking people on a random basis.

Also, why can they say whatever they want and give you a ticket that you have to sign and take or else you are going to jail?

I have been pulled and was told that I did not stop at three concurring stop signs. This was a total lie, but I was scared to not accept the ticket. I have also been pulled over at least 30 times and was given no reason or something made up. Like I swerved to prevent hitting a pothole and was pulled over and told I was swerving. That was a lie because I swerved once and told them that I drive the road every day and there is a pothole.
