I'm in the Air Force and have been for 2 years now. The A.F is the best as far as education, Travel, pretty much whatever you want to do you can. If you go active duty yes you will be deployed , but not as long as any other branch and not to just any old place either. We are well taken care of. The other branches call the Air Force "spoiled". And in a way we are. Boot Camp is only eight weeks that just went up from six weeks. Tech school is the best all depending on what your job is I'm a cop so I love it. But all in all it's what you make it can be the best experience in your life if you want it to be or the worst. It's up to you but whatever you do Good Luck!!!

You ask, " What are the benefits? How is going into the AF at age 23 different then joining at age 18 or 19? " There ' are ' no differences, only that one would be rather unsual to have a 4-year degree completed by the age of 18 or 19 anyway. Most are roughly at your age anyway who have bachelor's degrees fresh from the universities -- 22 to 25 years of age. The armed forces do not micro-manage issues about age; they don't need to: one simply abides the already established age threshold for going in. Aside from that, there is no concern. Only civilians get messy and false regarding hiring people at certain ages (though they "officially" claim that they do not discriminate, which is a lie -- they do). The armed forces are more advanced in many ways that civilian life has not appeared able to approximate. They do good work regarding age factors, race factors, class factors and on ... because they have to. There can't be bickering and foibles allowed when put in hostile environments: one has to act -- at once. In your degree program, just ensure that you cover a track of courses relevant to what the armed forces look for in particular 'and' what the civilian world looks for in general. Aside from this, you simply have to show up, abide orders and directives, and then simply live the military life.

AF is best at Education. AF will give you a career that will pay you on the outside. The longer you give them, the better you do, the more education...etc.

But, this having been said, look at the risks, look at the funding to the military and look at recent events.

It is not a commitment to be taken lightly. It could cost you your life.

To join the military you need to believe in the people in charge.

At the moment, I would hesitate.

But, it is your choice.

I can not speak to current benifits but I DO know that healthcare went downhill about the time my Folks needed it most.

Research.

Join the Air Force
Fly to foreign lands
Buzz over exotic peoples, and
Shoot them?

I don't know ... a job, self-respect, the GI Bill for college education, and a life-time career (if you choose to use it).

its military so the one thing you can expect is your life revolving around the military until you retire or get discharged for some people it is an opportunity to be a part of something huge in there life
and for some its just something different to do, there are some great opportunities available in the a.f. but you have to remember its like getting married once you go into it your stuck for a long time.

I'd join the Airforce, but I'm only 11. Well, if you do join the USAF, you'll be able to fly to other countries, earn medals, shoot down enemy planes, get a big paycheck, and make your family proud.
