It is considered contempt of court and failure to do civic duty.

The penalty depends on the state. In some states it may fine. In some states it could be jail time.

If the presiding judge feels its indicated he holds you in contempt of court. The fine is whatever he wants up to $1000
or 1 year in jail or both.If callled to serve jury duty respond to the
letter it will tell you what exceptions are made or where to call and find out.Don't just not respond!!!

You may have to be sent to jail, possibly during the entire jury selection process. That's all I know.

If u are accused of a crime, better show up. In case u do not show up, they send by mail a warrant. If your attorney didn't show up, they also send u a warrant, to be schashed by the attorney later.

You prove that you are not a responsible adult. It is better to do your duty than to intentionally avoid it. You will be reap what you sow. Good luck.
