I got a betta two days ago. the first day I put him in a vase. The next day i found out that the vase was less than one gallon and that I needed to feed him, not just put a pellet in and let it sit. the water was gross from the pellet, so i changed his water. today I got him a 2.5 gallon tank. I put the filter it came with in, but it was visibly moving the water and he kept getting stuck behind it (and I think it made him stuggle to swim). The water is conditioned, but I haven't tested the levels yet. there are three small plants in the bottom, but the walls are COVERED in bubbles (is this normal?) Whenever I put the water in the tank it did this, and where I have scraped off the bubbles they are gone, but everywhere else they're still there. Now he's floating (not upside down, head up) but he won't move unless I disturb him. I think he might be sick or really stressed. His eyes don't look quite as clear and his fins aren't quite as full. Any suggestions or comments?

When I go near my Betta's tank, he flares at me. Not just with his fins, but he also puffs up behind his gills which looks really scary. Does this mean he doesn't like me? I'd love him to be tame and let me hand feed him, even pat him as I've heard some Betta's do.

My fish went under the filter in our 2.5 gallon fish tank and got stuck. Once we got it free we found its tail was ripped really bad. What do I do? It can barely swim at all and only moves to eat. We can't move the filter up or down so it can't get under it. It's one of those goldfishes with the flared tails.

Well, my filter for my fish stopped working after the power flickered on and off. I've tried changing the filter cartridge and cleaning out the filter, but havent had any luck. Any suggestions on how to make it work?

Where can I get those pastel color clay pots so my fish can hide in them? I haven't seen them in pet shops, maybe I overlooked them. Are the clay pots going to to release chemicals and change my water parameters? Thanks!

I got 3 suckermouth catfish to help me with the horrendous algae issues that I have with my tank (9 tetras, 3 guppies and 1 snail). I also do a water change every week without fail. This morning I noticed that the catfish were all dead. I cannot seem to understand what is going on. Can algae be poisonous? I have no live plants in the tank.
I want to do a complete clean up of my tank: is it ok to keep the fish in a bowl for a day while the tank goes through a cycle?

A few days ago, I was sitting in my room and my betta was lying at the bottom of the tank. All of a sudden, the hight pitched sound of the fire alarm went off (nothing serious) and he came to the top instantly, swimming around erratically.

How sensitive are they to sound? Anyone has any experience? Of course, I'm not expecting them to react to human voice but obviously they react to sound if it's loud enough.

I have 9 platy fry and 6 guppy fry in my breeding box and i am just wondering if this will have any affect on the growth of the fry, the tank is set up at 26 degrees celcius, and the fry do have plenty of space, I have also noticed that the same platy looks pregnant again is this possible?

Thanks Danny

They are tropical.
This time I am using API Pimafix to treat cottony fungus, but I have spotted white spot and fin rot too, so would like to also use API Melafix, (one fishie has only one little arm fin left and another fishie is on its side with fungus) can I use both together?
