I have 9 platy fry and 6 guppy fry in my breeding box and i am just wondering if this will have any affect on the growth of the fry, the tank is set up at 26 degrees celcius, and the fry do have plenty of space, I have also noticed that the same platy looks pregnant again is this possible?

Thanks Danny

Personally I don't use these breeders
Instead I have a well planted tank where the fry can hide, and usually 5-15 of them always survive because they hide from the other fish
I tried both methods, and noticed that fry who grow up in the main tank grow much faster then the ones in a breeder

If you have them in a breeder it takes usually about 4-6 for guppies to be big enough and 6-8 weeks for platy to be big enough to release

The main rule on that is, they need to be bigger then the biggest mouth of your fish in the tank not to be eaten

Hope that helps
Good luck

First off, it is possible for your platy to be pregnant again. Once a livebearer gets pregnant, it can hold that sperm for another 3 or 4 pregnancies. I also recommend that you set up a 10-20 gallon tank for your fry, since the more space they have to swim, the faster they'll grow. Breeding traps can be a pain as well, and you can risk having babies escape into the tank when you try and clean it.

If you do have another tank, put the fry in there with plenty of plants to hide in, and the next time one of your fish is pregnant, put her in that tank instead of the breeder trap, because it's a lot better and it won't put as much stress on the fish.

It is very possible that the female is pregnant again. Livebearers can carry sperm for up to 3 months and continue to have fry without being with a male. You might want to buy a seperate tank for the fry and let them swim freely. That way they won't get cramped up when they start growing. The length of time for them to be big enough to place back in the tank will vary. Each fry will grow differently. Just make sure you feed them well and keep the tank clean. They should be large enough in about 2-3 months.

Staple & algae flake with a sprint dried bloodworm. Staple flake generally has the terrific number of supplements & minerals, algae as they are omnivores, the bloodworm is a severe protein food, which will help advance. Use a coffee grinder. I honestly have 2 week old angel fry continuously ingesting a sort of ingredients run via a coffee grinder. this provides a food it extremely is dirt, plenty extra acceptable than crushing with luggage & rolling pins, or any of that kind of element. it is going to decrease the food to 3 million/4 the unique volume, so feed a million/4 of what you think of they want. For a tanks with 2 hundred-3 hundred 2 week old angel fry I take a pen cap, the plastic variety with the little clip protruding. Use the slender clip area as a tiny scoop, a small pile is all you like. while it hits the exterior it spreads quickly.

i can only answer for the guppy. srry. guppies can be released in about a month. i usually release them when they are too big to be eaten by the adults. although i'm not very sure, i think the growth rate depends on the temperature.
