No, but in most cases it isn't nearly as prominent as on the male.

Well, in a round about way. Females will normally stay smaller than males. I think what you mean by head growth is the forehead of the fish. For the most part, only the males have a bulge on the forehead. Sometimes but rarely females will have it too. But it is never as dominant as a males bump.
