Well, my filter for my fish stopped working after the power flickered on and off. I've tried changing the filter cartridge and cleaning out the filter, but havent had any luck. Any suggestions on how to make it work?

funny you should ask :):) i just had the same problem earlier today!! i had to use a bottle brush and scalding hot water to clean the junk out of it. and really scrub the little propeller. my was glued stiff from all the gunk. after i scrubbed it and changed the cartridge, it worked again. now my tank has waves in it cuz the filter works so good :):):) good luck!!

yeah.... buy another one. that power flicking thing worries me. this could be the start of an electrical fire perhaps. it may be the cord that is shot. if you had it for a long time buy another one. if not take it back to the store with your reciept and exchange it . sometime you can find good used and unused filters in the classified section of your local newspaper. by the way is it a undergravel filter? if so do you have too many rocks or gravel on top of it, I wish you would have mention the type of filter you have and what size tank. check and see if there might be a recall for the type of filter that you have. try contacting the manufacturer if all else fails especially if you have a warranty. I hope my suggestion has helped you come up with some ideas.

if the power flickered then its most likely internal damage due to a power surge. if u havent already checked, look into getting it fixed before replacing it, it will only be 2 wires at most...top tip for the future tho, use a surge protector that is of the standard for a computer, it will trip before any of ur aquarium kit blows

Well , If its the type I think it might be. Unplug it. Fill it with water. Plug it back in. If not, you may just need a new one.
Wish I could help.

Try priming it - fill the chamber with water from your tank. If that won't work, then you need to buy a new one. They're cheap.
