I have a fancy oranda goldfish (the one w/ the big thing on their head) that is pretty small or young I think. It seems like he gets like one small white spot on the "growth" on its head occasionally... so I do a partial water change and add some aquarium salt and its usually gone the next day. Am I treating it right and if so why does it keep coming back. (Now he has 2 spots... )

I don't know how to get rid of this white type stuff on my tank. Is it from hard water or what. The water seems to evaporate out fairly quickly from my tank, and I have been doing water replacement cycles. I have tried scrubbing the sides of the tank with a pad, but to no luck. Its still there. I have 3 plecos in my tank along with 2 other fish for now. I'm just starting my tank out. Its a 30 gallon tank. What do I do??

I have a tropical aquarium and have some guppies, tetra's a few loaches and one male siamese fighter. They all seem to get on fine together but I would like to introduce some more fish and am not sure what species will fit in with mine. I have quite a large tank and all my fish are quite small. Anyone have any ideas?

A handful of questions, but im hopeing someone can answer them all in a simple yet understandable way.

-will a weather loach do well in a tank with two gold barbs, and two clown loaches?

-"Weather Loaches will eat anything thatll fit in their mouth" - article. is this true? (if my gold barbs are small enough will the weather loach devour it? )

-My clown loaches are still antisocial with me compared with the two gold barbs who actually appeare to enjoy my presence, will the weather loach be the same was the clown loach??
(ive had the clown loach for about...2 months now.

-"Weather loaches have dissapeered in the past, but are now back, double the price" - article.
if so, how much are they now?

-(i want a fish thats unique looking, yet VERY interesting in personality).
Can i treat the Weather loach as if its a tropical fish? temperature and all.

-Will aquarium salt and heat be okay for the weather loach? (im trying to prevent diseases)

I just bought him about 3 days ago and he's still a cute little baby so I put him in a 5 gallon tank with 2 guppies, 2 tiger barbs, and a friendly female Platy. The fish don't seem bothered with the new arrival, and they get along pretty well (except the female guppy, she nips his tail a little sometimes but he doesn't care he just moves and she quickly swims away). When it's feeding time (11:30am and 9:00pm) all the other fish eat their flakes but the algae eater doesn't eat them. All he ate in the last 3 days was one small flake which he found at the bottom of the tank and the algae and plants and I'm getting concerned because he's not eating. So what do I feed him if he won't eat the flakes? Please help, I want him to have a happy life and a balanced diet.

My betta fish has had slight fin and tail rot for quite a while, but fins looked to be growing back. I had him in a 1 gallon bowl, no filtration or anything. I moved him into a filtered, non heated, 1.5 gallon tank, and at first he seemed to love it! I'm not sure why, but a day later, i noticed his fin and tail rot had rapidly increased. I do not know what to do, he is eating fine, his color is still beautiful, and he is moving around quite a bit. I've been treating him with fungus and bacteria medication for his fin rot, and I've added salt to the tank. I don't know what else to do, but I love my fish and I want to save him. Any advice would be helpful

I made a boo-boo a few months ago where I added too much salt to my 29 gal tank. So I have been doing water changes without adding salt, to rid the tank of the excess. Now I am afraid there is very little salt in the tank. So I bought a hydrometer, and for the life of me I can't find one website that has any info other than saltwater. This is not brackish, just fresh. My fish seem happy as can be after I almost killed the poor babies.

Just put in the treatment 10 mins ago.
Ok it turned the water blue???
It also said to remove my carbon filter aka secondary filter on my aqua tech filter??
When is it ok to run my filter again or can I already???
When can I put a new replacement filter in?
Please note the filter that is not to be replaced is of course still in there.
Sorry for all the questions...but I am new to this.

My three Mollies are doing very well, but I need some answers from other EXPERIENCED Mollies fish people in Yahoo Answers arena.

I have a black, a black and white and a silver Molly. The black and the black and whte Mollies have grown to be approximately 2-3 inches long, very active, all the right look, except... I am wondering if I am feeding them too much. Reason: They are very plump-- Not exploding or sick plump, but plump. No male Molly is in the tank nor has there been, so I know they are not pregnant.

I feed them about two pinches (i.e., enough to hold between my index and thumb fingers, about 1/16 of an inch ) of the good Tropical Fish Flakes (designed for Mollies as well as other fish) once in the morning and once at night. They love to eat but I know not to feed them too much, regardless.

I know what to look for on diseases/parasites and they don't show any of those signs, but being a good pet owner, I wonder about this.
