any tips on products for getting rid of the smell in my fish tank?

every now and the my fish tank has this funky odor.i just want to see if anyone has any tips or know of a good product to use

You need to clean the inside of tank often. If you have goldfish, more often. This includes gravel and changing portion of water. They sell tubes to suck out water and debris.
After good cleaning, here's an inexpensive and fragrance free solution that is perfect for your problem. - I know many other people that use it. It is a natural fragrance free carbon product called FRIDGE IT odor absorbers. It is a little purple cube with an incredible activated carbon filter inside that is really, really, great and eliminates the odors and for a long time. Just clip one or two to OUTSIDE of tank.. Each only costs a couple of dollars. I use this product everywhere including car(smoke and pet smells), storage, closets, my fridge and also under sinks, near trash and have friends that use it on cat litter box and also diaper pails - it's that good. I really recommend it. You can buy it in kitchen gadget sections in stores like walmart and linens and things. I also think camping world sells it and Internet at [e-mail].

Well, I don't know of any product that gets rid of water smells. Here are a couple tips.

Put a can of Baking soda near the tank. This should obsorb the smell, just like it would in your fridge.

Change the water on a regular basis; once weekly for smaller one fish bowls, once a month for larger tanks.

What you smell is usually ammonia
First of all test your water for ammonia, and if it is not at 0 do a 50 % waterchange with a gravel siphon right away, repeat partial waterchanges of 25% every 4 days until your ammonia levels are at 0
Don't use any chemicals

well... i bet ur tank smells like a swamp... on a hot summer day... the best way is to give it a good cleaning take out 50% of the water ...scrub all but one side of ur tank (thats if u have a pleco) if not clean all sides...clean ur filter as well... this should help adding some salt to the water helps as well plus its good for the fish......there is also some stuff u can buy at the pet stores that can help as well but its cheaper just to give it a good cleaning.... if the smell is still ther after the cleanin do it again in 2 days... you dont wanna shock your fish to much they may die.... good luck...

Change the some of the water in the tank when it starts looking dirty, then spray some Oust air sanitizing spray around the tank. (Not in it!) That works for my newt.
