you can buy algae pucks from your local pet store ... plus some if they are hungry they will eat goldfish pellets....keep giving pucks to ur pleco til... enough algae grows in the tank for him to eat... than u can stop giving them to him... but u can treat him every now and again also goldfish like the pucks for a treat as well...... when cleaning ur tank make sure u only clean 3 sides so algae can grow on that side... ever other month u can clean a different side of the tank... leaving one from the pleco to clean....

algae eaters will pretty much eat anything. Hikari pleco tablets are pretty good since it retains their shape very well long after you forgot that you put them in the tank.

But honetly speaking although I don't know the size of your goldfish, a 10 gallon tank will eventually be way too small for 3 gold fish. Gold fish usually grow very large and they pollute the water really badly. Also many algae eaters need a water heater, which the gold fish usually doesnt need. So that's another issue to think about.

Buy algae wafers especially made for bottom feeders, at the same time buy at least a 30 gallon tank, because you will stunt your goldfish in that small tank and will shorten their life considerably

Hope that helps
Good luck

You can buy algae supplements, algae flakes and pellets. To gain a little more algae try to place your tank (if possible) a little nearer to direct sunlight but not IN the direct sunlight to produce more algae.

I would advise against putting anything in with your goldfish other then goldfish. Three in a 10 gallon aquarium is small for any other fish to coexist. Goldfish are dirty animals and create large amounts of ammonia which kill other fish. But to answer your question anyway, they will bottom feed the old food up also.

Hikari Algae Wafer is one factor all backside feeders will love. Simply throw a single piece into the tank. The fish can scent it and will come except he is afraid of you watching.
