My three Mollies are doing very well, but I need some answers from other EXPERIENCED Mollies fish people in Yahoo Answers arena.

I have a black, a black and white and a silver Molly. The black and the black and whte Mollies have grown to be approximately 2-3 inches long, very active, all the right look, except... I am wondering if I am feeding them too much. Reason: They are very plump-- Not exploding or sick plump, but plump. No male Molly is in the tank nor has there been, so I know they are not pregnant.

I feed them about two pinches (i.e., enough to hold between my index and thumb fingers, about 1/16 of an inch ) of the good Tropical Fish Flakes (designed for Mollies as well as other fish) once in the morning and once at night. They love to eat but I know not to feed them too much, regardless.

I know what to look for on diseases/parasites and they don't show any of those signs, but being a good pet owner, I wonder about this.

Female mollies can store sperm for up to 6 batches, The chances are high that your mollies are pregnant as most mollies are, As they are not sperated at birth, And as you say the have a round plump stomach, So yes there prego.

If you dont want the fry (babies) then the adults will eat them.

They could also be 'POT BELLIED' mollies: heres a pic of one http://www.aquariumfish.net/images_01/molly_balloon_02.jpg

OK, first of all they could be pregnant, since they can store sperm for up to 6 months, the gestation period is 28 days

You're only suppose to feed them what they will eat in a matter of 3-5 min at a time, and not more then twice a day

If they are swimming and acting normally you don't have to worry about any thing

If they are acting any different though, let us know and we can help you further

I have one Dalmatian molly and she is pretty big too, but I know for a fact that she isn't pregnant, because there hasn't been a male in there for over 8 months, and they grow up to 2.5 inch in length

Hope that helps
good luck

Mollies are prolific breeders, and they mght be pregnant from previously being in a tank with males. I also believe that they cant give birth (Live birth) for several times after being with a male, so don't be surprised if you do have some babies soon.

They could sell be prego. All my mollies had babies for months after I bought them. Try looking on your white one and see if her stomach is dark. Sometimes on the while ones you can actually see the babies eyes. But if they get huge after only a day or two and their scales start to potrude then they might habe dropsy.
