My fish had a bout of tail rot and I treated him for it. Now he has no tail and I feel incredibly sorry for him and am hoping that his tail will grow back! I doubt this is possible but am looking for confirmation....?

I need immediate help for my goldfish. We've had 4 goldfish for over a year now, which have all been healthy, and in the same tank. In the last month, we've moved, and tried to keep as much of their original water during the move. Since we've moved however, the fish are going pale, refuse to eat, and the nitrates are SUPER high. We did a 30% water change yesterday, and the nitrates are ridiculously high again. One of them is certainly near-death... please help.

Our fantail goldfishs left eye has a white cloudy mucus over it and a red ring that goes around the outside of the eye. The right eye is fine. what could the cause of this be?

We changed the water and cleaned the tank nearly 2 weeks ago. Should tanks be maintained more often then this? And is this a possible cause too?

We have some smoke damage (from a fire) to an apartment, and would like to use an ozone generator to remove the smoke smell. Will the use of the ozone generator in a room with a fishtank do any damage to the fish?

From my understanding of ozone generators, they create O3- will this "pollute" the water in the fishtank? Or create an unsafe environment for the fish?

Thank you in advance for your assistance!

Ok after many weeks and questions, my tank has been ever so slowly cycling, its still has never fully cycled, but my levels have been staying at a safe level.

Today I added two fish, and added some water conditioner to help keep them from getting stressed. Everything seem fine, when I got home from work tonight the water is super cloudy! My water has never, ever, been cloudy in all these weeks its been crystal clear.

I used my dropper tests, and everything is in check:

Ammonia: 0-0.25, its not quite 0 but not 0.25 either.
Nitrite: 0.25
Nitrate: 0

Now that is the lowest my Nitrites have ever been, which I took to be a good sign? But if it is good, why did my water get cloudy?

Is it ok to do a 20% water change, or is this part of the cycling and I should leave it alone? I have some stuff that is supposed to clear up cloudy water, but I don't want to add anymore chemicals to it until I know its safe to do so?

I have one serpae and three Bleeding heart tetras. Of coarse I believe my serpae is attacking the bleeding hearts. I have two questions.. One of my Bleeding hearts looks like it has a milky white layer of I don't know what over one of it's eyes.. and this is the one that has most of it's back fin nipped off. Does this eye film have anything to do with the fin nipping, or does it have another disease?
Secondly, if I take the serpae out, will the nipped back fins of all of them (some are more nipped than others), grow back? If they can, what do i need to do other than pich the serpae?
Thanks!

Which is it? I thought one would be a good idea to arieate the water, and all the bubbles popping at the surface is kind of like having more surface area. What do bubble walls / air stones really do?

How do you change water in a 16 gallon tank full of 1 betta and 6 zebra danios? Should you net them or scoop them in a small container? Or should you just keep the fish inside?
