My fish had a bout of tail rot and I treated him for it. Now he has no tail and I feel incredibly sorry for him and am hoping that his tail will grow back! I doubt this is possible but am looking for confirmation....?

Yes, the tail fin will grow back as long as the actual flesh of the fish wasn't too damaged. If it's only fin that's missing, it will grow back slowly.

I'm going through this problem right now. Best thing to do is to change his water. Then get some medication that works specifically for tail rot. It won't look like it's healing, so you just have to give it a couple of days.

I have had a recent case of tail rot in my tank, my molly did grow back her tail, it does take a long time tho, and if it is not in the tank alone, i would consider putting it into a separate tank at least for a while to make sure all is well.

I think it will grow back. I had a goldfish who was attacked by a crab I had, and I treated her with Melafix and her tail is almost grown back now. Now, don't take this as gospel though, since my fish didn't have tail rot. I'm not completely sure, but I do believe it will grow back.

I recently treated my purple parrot fish for tail rot and popeye. His pectoral and tail fins were badly damaged but since I treated him they have recovered fully (Took about 2-3 weeks to recover). Just make sure there are no other fish in the tank that are nipping at him. Good luck!

Yes it will slowly grow back and the best thing to help it is MelaFix. It is a natural remedy that assists fish in regrowing tissue that has been damaged by disease or injury.

MelaFix helps in the healing while also keeping new infections at bay. I have used it successfully on more than one occasion.

It is possible that he will regrow part of it, it depends on how badly it was hurt.
I wouldn't count on it, though.
