Okay, we just got a new tank and are kind of new to fish owning. Our water is ok, we got it tested. But every time we get a new batch of fish ( 4 of them this last time, and a sucker fish) they are just regular goldfish+ the sucker fish. We notice that 1 fish stopped eating. He kind of swam around the top of the tank with his 'nose' sticking out of the water. He would swim to the flakes at the top and bump into them but wouldn't eat them. The other fish are fine and happy. The sick fish would swim to the bottom and socialize with the others for a little while then float back to the top. after 3 days, it finally died. Is there anything we can give to a 'sick' fish to avoid this? they are my 5 year old sisters fish and she seems to be getting discouraged that her fishies keep dying. and no she doesn't do anything to the fish, she's very careful about them. It is a 20 gallon tank, has 1 live plant, several plastic ones, natural rocks, a sunken ship with bubbles and a filter

Would love to hear from all of you on this one. I didn't like it in the first few minutes it was in , but it is growing on me now to see the cichlids interacting with it.

One of my fantails has somehow gotten splits in his tailfins. They don't look like bites, and the top corner of his fin looks a little broken. He's been chasing the other goldie a lot lately, could this have split his fins? The other one doesn't have anything wrong with his. What can I do to help him?

I bought a catfish at a pet shop that had what I believe had ich. later that night it died after a long effort to save it. 24 hours later an oscar that I had for several years got it I tried everything to cure it but the medicine simply did not work. He passed away last night. Do i have to throw everthing away and start fresh do the fish in the future do not get it or can I just wash and reuse?

(in separate fishbowls). Well tonight, I bought a "bigger" fishbowl and decided they should meet! It started out smooth, but now he's flaring up his fins and she's circling the bowl like a "hula-hoop" (for better lack of terms). I've been talking to them, especially him, and telling him to leave her alone and be "the good boy that he is". They know my voice, I talk to them daily. Should I take her out, or is this the "courtship" ritual? URGENT REPLIES WELCOME! XOXO Moonpie

I'm thinking of buying a new light fixture for my 20 gallon long fish tank. I would like to get polyps and corals, but I heard they need very high lighting. The fixture is 60 watts, so it's 3 watts per gallon in my tank. I heard in some places that 3 watts per gallon is fine, and in other places they strongly disagree. I would really like it if someone has had a tank with 3 watts per gallon with corals or polyps would respond to this question. If possible, i would like to know what other inverts I would or wouldn't be able to get with my fixture. Thanks.

I have 2 Fantail Goldfish. One is very active and seeming very heathly. however, the other one is spending most of her time on the bottem of the tank just sitting there. She'll come up to eat, but that's it. Is this normal? I have tested the water and changed 1/3 of it already and she's not getting better. HELP?

I have a 50 gallon tank and 3 black mollies. Can someone tell me approximately how long should it be before the ammonia levels start rising. Also, how long will it take to completely cycle. I know there is no way to give an exact answer, but just a close educated guess is what I am after here.

The living fish in the tank started to act a little funny, so I decided to change the water in the tank the best I could without relocating the fish. I use chemical additive to help with all the imbalanced city water. They were doing ok for a couple days, but now there swimming around like they have mad fish disease. Can anyone please help with this!!!
