Yeah should be OK, just be careful many types can get quite big. Reasearch before you buy.
They are peaceful.

I have a pleco in with my two fantails, and they do fine. The pleco hides inside this little round Colosseum ornament and the goldies will go in and swim around and he hasn't ever bullied them or anything. Of course, I have some odd fish that get along really well, until I get my bigger tank for my goldies, my betta is staying with them with no problems. Just be sure to get a plecostomus, not a Chinese algae eater as they are fish eaters and get very aggressive. Seeing as the goldies get large as well, as long as your tank is big enough, you should have no problem with the size of the plecostomus. Good luck and remember to be picky about what kind of algae eater you get!

It really depends on what species of plecostomus you get. The larger species can get quite aggressive. I have seen many pleco catfishes actually cling to the sides of goldfish, eating away the proective 'slime' on their scales. Needless to say, if left in the tank, they can kill the goldfishes. And most of them are tropical fish (although they can stand colder temperatures).
Personally, I think the best fish to put in with goldfish are more goldfish. They don't really do well with other fish since most breeds are so ungainly and slow..

We keep a huge Pleco with our Koi and Carp in the pond and they get along just fine. The Pleco eats the algae on the sides and left the fish alone. Part of the problem with them going after the algae on the fish's scales, might be if the tank is so clean, you've removed all the other algae for them to eat.

Pleco's don't have any teeth, just suckers, so they won't harm any other fish. If you get the small pleco's they definately won't bother the larger gold fish, but they do get up to a foot long (within years) and even then I don't see them being any bother to the other fish. Pleco's are very hardy fish and they love to eat the algea wafers, not fish. Pleco's can be a bit bully-ish, but it's all in good nature.

Plecos can get really, really big if you get what is called the common pleco. There are smaller types that can go in smaller tanks, but please remember that plecos are tropical fish while goldfish are coldwater fishes. They really don't go together well for that reason.

No! This type of fish usually stays on the bottom or the sides of your tank. The fish cleans up your tank by eating waste, along with build up. I have never known to have problems with this type of fish in fresh water tanks.

I've had a plecostomus before, but not a goldfish.
It should be fine, they just mind their own business and suck on the sides of the tank.
